Re: Golden w/ possible DM
Hi guys, Well my 13yr old Golden Retriever, Angelo is continuing along...he is still about the same only able to walk a few steps. We LOVE the Radio Flyer Wagon that we bought! It helps us tremendously when we want to bring him in or out of the yard as there is a slight hill involved. Unfortunately,...

Re: Golden w/ possible DM
Thank you Carol! :D We were all happy to be out and about! I'm glad that Chloe enjoys the car rides...those are a favorite of my boys too! We are also using the wagon to get him back in from outside. I can very carefully and with alot of help get him around the house and down the hill to my back yar...

Re: Anxiety
lmaddox- Here is some information about Peace & Calming Oil: http://www.thewholedog.org/PandC.html There are many places that sell it and we actually got ours from Ebay. It is still a challenge to keep him "busy". He is keeping us on our toes to say the least! We got a large Radio Flye...

Re: Golden w/ possible DM
Hi there, I wanted to share a photo of Angelo in his new wagon. We were finally able to get him (and our other Golden and ourselves) out of the house and to the park!! He took to the wagon nicely and we had a beautiful day! The wagon has a storage bin so we can keep cold water, bowls, plastic bags a...

Re: Bowel Incontinence in 14 yr old dog
Hi Sarah, WOW I felt like I was reading my own words! We are in the same position with my 13 yr old, 70lb Golden Retriever. Thankfully he pees on his own with us holding him up, but the pooping...ugh. We keep charts of when he goes so we can try to figure out the timing. We spray his butt with cold ...

Re: Golden w/ possible DM
Hi Carol, Angelo has beds everywhere as well...some orthopedic, some not. Where there aren't beds I have blankets and thin cushions and what not so he can lay on something other than the carpet. Since he can't really walk well and usually topples over after a few steps, at least his landing is soft....

Hi Judy,
Thanks...I have watched him and do no sense any discomfort or pain at ALL. It is definitely something to watch out for though and I appreciate your reply!

Re: Anxiety
Thank you Kate & Kristen, He does not appear to be in ANY discomfort. (he is on an anti-inflammatory med and a pain med along with supplements) It's more a hyper-ness? He was always a very active dog...never slept much...always hiked with me etc...He has pretty much always needed attention 24/7 ...

Anxiety
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has dealt with their dog having anxiety issues due to their disability? My 13 yr old Golden has been slowly getting paralyzed in the rear due to what I believe to be DM among other things. The past 2 days he has gotten worse and now seems to need help rising about...

Re: Pumpkin dosage for my gsd
Paula,
I give my 70lb Golden Retriever a heaping tablespoon with every meal. (2x per day) Just make sure it's 100% pumpkin not pie filling. It really helps!

Re: Golden w/ possible DM
 Thanks! It is really hard to explain but since he always lays on the same side...the outer nail of each paw is pressing into the side of his pads. And when he tries to walk and topples over...his feet are underneath and it presses 70lbs of weight on his paw therefore making a pressure sore...g...
