Look through the posts below-you'll see that healing doesn't

magically stop after a few weeks; it can go on for a long time, even years. Maybe a sling/harness would help both of you until you see how much he'll recover? Kid John has posted other links below, but here's 1 idea. http://www.handicappedpets.com/Mobility%20-%20Harness.htm Nobody can tell you what ...

I forgot about Clemmons, but many of my links

got eaten when my motherboard blew up. Dr. Clemmons had some good info.

rerouting blood

Yes, that's true for humans, too. The body can "go around" blockages in the heart or peripheral arteries.

boot link

http://handicappedpets.com/boots.html

Here's 1 idea; also check out the cart sites (some do boots, too, but I can't remember which ones). Some supply companies (KVVet.com, for instance) have them, too.

Poor babies. :(

A friend of mine, a fellow rescuer, just lost 20-some babies to panleuk/distemper.

I've asked jdf to bring his spinal stroke links,

but I don't know if he'll come.

Improvement can continue for a LONG time; I

wish jdf would drop by. I think Rox improved for at least a couple of years after her spinal stroke. It all sounds promising!

Well,

it took months for Tristalyn's nerve to start showing signs of regeneration. I understand the "creepy crawlies" of nerve healing, but she didn't have any problem waiting. I protected her arm while she couldn't move it, then 1 day she started having movement at her wrist. I wasn't in any hu...

Yes, nerve damage CAN heal. It's very slow, though.

Are you using something to splint it?

Many people here have been there.

It takes time, but there is usually significant improvement. Some do better with poop/pee after they're on wheels, but I'd wait to see how much natural improvement comes first. While you're waiting for more responses, check out abledogs (abledogs.net). They have a VERY active email list, and almost ...

You're right--bloat

doesn't take long. Glad she's OK.

Some people rec. chondroitin (sp?) and/or MSM for ortho problems; maybe Kid John will happen by with more info.

That's great! I think he'll find a way to use the box.

For instance, Lefty, who has a flipper-type deformity of his R arm, doesn't seem to realize it's different. He washes his face with it and prefers to use it when scrapping with a sibling. He does, however, pick it up and tripod when he's in a hurry. They're extremely adaptable critters, and I can al...

Sounds like you're getting some answers.

Most vets have very little experience with disabilities and unusual circumstances, so you're lucky to be moving ahead.

Good luck!
