Re: 3 legged dog
Hi Kerry, They do make a four-wheeled cart. Perhaps you can get some idea by looking at it whether you could put her into it, going by how much she weighs and how much you're allowed to lift. Is there anyone around to help? I think if you email the company and explain both your dog's limitations and...

Re: Disabled dog
What if you put a bright bandana on her? This will give people permission to look at her. It will be a signal that says, "This is OK, and we're having fun here, and we're approachable, so don't be uncomfortable with us. Go ahead, look at me!" I always like to think that if I take my dog ou...

You're Most Welcome!
Hope it's a one-person job to put it on. Excuse me for being indelicate, but I discovered that putting a dog in warm water can have a certain relaxing effect that you might want to be prepared for, just in case. Not a problem if you notice it right away. Might quickly get out of hand if the bubble j...

Re: update on cute lil me
Dear Bendy, If your mouth begins to bother you again, see if Mom will give you little dips of Gerber baby food chicken on her finger for you to lick (or Heinz--cheaper and stays on the finger better). Also, she could pour the broth off one of a low-sodium can of catfood and stir in some baby food ri...

Re: About crate rest and movement
I think the crate rest is for more than just avoiding scrapes. It is to allow any swelling in/around the spinal cord to go down completely so function can return. I think it is safer to keep her activity to a minimum for 3 to 4 weeks. Since she has no deep pain she is probably unable to feel if she ...

Favorite Hydrotherapy Link :)
Below is the link to a website with instructions on hydrotherapy. If your dog is bigger perhaps you can adapt the principles.

Wet Suit for Rajah's Hydrotherapy?
Finally found the "wet suit" I'd seen somewhere, and it was right on this website! If you go to the Products section and click on Animal Bandages, it's the one called the Pet Lift suit. It covers most of the dog and fits very close to the body like a wet suit. It might work to keep hair ou...

Re: I just found out my puppy has cancer
I would not do anything without a definite diagnosis, which I think (but do not know) may involve aspiriating an affected lymph node and having the fluid analyzed. Also, if you get a definite diagnosis I would ask how much chemotherapy would cost, because some medicines are very, very inexpensive an...

Know Any Games Suitable for a Paralyzed Pet?
Tonight my little friend was on the carpet and I got silly down on my hands and knees, patting the floor first to the right of her then to the left. She went back and forth the opposite direction using her front feet, pivoting on her little bottom. It was really fun but I stopped because I didn't wa...

Re: Hydrotherapy Help??
Is your jacuzzi really not deep enough at all, or is the problem that you can only fill the water to a certain level before it starts running out an overflow port? With my tub, I had to unscrew the face plate of the overflow hole (that hole 3/4 way up the front of the tub) and reinstall it upside do...

Re: Hydrotherapy Help??
I wish we were, but we're in Texas I'm afraid, but thanks for the offer. :) I'm encouraged by the fact that your dog was accepted for PT even though she wasn't walking yet (though its only been 7 weeks, right?). I'm going to ask again at the clinic here, and if they still seem to hesitate I'll try y...

Re: Hydrotherapy Help??
Ohmygosh! Please excuse this disjointed follow-up, but I need help on the same thing (chihuahua 16 weeks post-back surgery). Mine also is not showing any definite signs of walking, and we're already at 4 months. The hospital where she had her surgery provides therapy, but I don't know if they will d...
