Re: Senior dog with ACL injury
Oh no  that IS a very different world. But so wonderful she is being pampered like a queen. It's worth looking into if you can afford treatment, but I've been told bone cancer almost always comes back, so it's a gamble with time. I know you must love her very very much, and you will make the ri...

I've been away a few days, and look at all this progress happening! :cheer: Hopefully it is just a matter of time before he can pee on his own too. Hang in there! Have you considered moving his litter box or adding another one near his kitty window? Seems like he tends to gravitate to that area when...

Re: Beautiful Husky Mix w/brittle bone disease in shelter
What a beautiful dog. And how terrible he has been labeled with a disease he doesn't have. Vet techs are not allowed to diagnose by law. This should have never been recognized... Also, I've trimmed a lot of nails, and I've never heard of a splintering nail meaning anything serious. I am putting some...

Re: Senior dog with ACL injury
What I would recommend for you and your dog is getting a second opinion. I work with veterinarians, and the truth is they all see things a little different. Age is only one part of determining surgical risk. Overall health is more important that her age. Plus, it sounds like this one isn't intereste...

Re: URGENT: Need help and advice for canine brittle bone dis
I have not encountered any patients through our clinics with this condition, but looks like it's a legit condition that's genetic. I would assume that this dog would do just fine in a quiet home without stairs or kids. And a soft, heated bed would probably be nice, too. :) Osteogenesis Imperfecta Do...

I haven't heard of this either, but I would take it as a great sign! If he can make his tail and waterworks function just for this, perhaps he's starting to get those functions back but it's too painful most of the time... fingers crossed!

This is a wonderful report. :trophy: I'm so glad the x-ray shows he is doing better with his stool issues. And that he doesn't have a UTI (Kudos to you for getting the bladder nearly empty!). It's great that the vet took the time to walk you through some of the scary stuff so you don't have to worry...

I'm sure CarolC will be along to answer some of this. In the meantime, hang in there. There were times, especially at the beginning, that every time I had to express my cat, it was a battle. She'd wiggle, scratch, and tense up. You're both learning, so don't be too hard on yourself. If you keep havi...

Re: FCE 2 weeks out, back legs paralyzed
Hi and welcome! I have limited experience with this condition, but it sounds like you are on the right track getting her therapy options and a rear harness. It's great that your dog regained control of bladder and bowel and moves her legs a little bit. She is a pretty big dog. You may even think abo...

Sounds like he is making great strides toward recovery!! :cheer: I'm glad you chose to try acupuncture. I had some done on my cat Cricket, and I could definitely tell a difference. She got tired of it though. She's a grump at the vet's now. (But a total lovebug at any other given moment!) So it prob...

Re: Spinal stroke, no deep pain, back two legs
As with all injuries that involve nerves, give it time and lots of it. They are very inconsistent, so be prepared for any outcome. Make sure she's confined in a small comfortable space for a while to help her heal. Given what you have said, it may be a good idea to start looking into a cart for her....

Hi! Cricket's mom here. :) I do not know all the answers to your questions, but I will try to help where I can. First of all, kudos to you for making the effort to save your cat. Sounds like he's got some pretty severe injuries. His injuries are still fresh, and cats can be very tough so don't despa...

Re: Incontinence problem in kitty
Hi there! Cricket's mom here. My girl had similar injuries to your cat but is permanently incontinent (or at least has had no improvement for over a year). First let me tell you that a month from the accident is not very long at all so don't lose heart yet. Especially since the fact that she's poopi...
