Re: Long-term paralysis in kitties
Scan back from the recent messages of my Trixie and her constipation/megacolon. Boris should not eat dry food/kibble. It dehydrates the poop too much for many handicapped cats. There are meds that soften the stools and some that help the motility of the colon. Yes cats with hind end paralysis are mo...

Re: Joint pain in large dogs
I have a natural pet food store. We have a lot of people that are using a suppliment by Solid Gold called Yucca. It is awesome!! It helps to relieve inflammation and pain. I have a personal friend who has a dog that was in such pain that it couldn't go up stairs. Her vet told her to put the dog down...

Re: Paraplegic kitten?
I have a soft spot for these special furbabies myself! He will adjust pretty well all on his own for the most part. I would not trim his nails--he needs them to pull himself along. The thing to watch for is that he's going potty. Some cats with hind leg paralysis have trouble with bowel movements. T...

Trixie update....
Thanks so very much for all of the prayers for Trixie. I'm happy to report that she is still with us----and pooping again. We have to watch her like a hawk. She had some damage to her lower colon from the severe constipation that she had. The vet was able to manually "unplug" her. She didn...

Trixie need prayers please
Trixie was rushed to the vet yesterday for severe constipation. Vet manually cleaned her out. Today she is very nautious and doesn't look well. She's going back to the vet this afternoon. Vet is not very optimistic. I can't take this---not my special girl!!!! We just lost our himi Sassy on the 4th. ...

Re: Crippled cat
Hi-as far as the stroke goes does your vet know what brought on the stroke?
Cats with heart problems, high blood pressure, and uncontrolled hyperthyroidism can lead to strokes.

Re: Litter box
I have a CH kitty who has a hard time stepping into a litter box. We took a plastic rubbermaid container and cut an opening into it with a very sharp knife (be careful!). We made the opening very low so that Ruby won't have to stetp--she just walks right in. She needs a covered box to have something...

Have you talked to Debbie K. yet?
She has a site on Trixie's Page called Sheba the Quad Dog. She had experience with all kinds of carts, etc. I definately agree with you on the muscle atrophy, etc. Solid Gold also has a suppliment called S.O.D. that helped my old dog a lot with arthritic hips. Can't hurt to check it out. I wish I had ...

Re: Biscuit the car chasing cat
I am not a big fan of cats being outside just for those reasons of being hit by cars, attacked by other animals, etc. We are looking into adopting a cat that was run over by a lawn mower and has lost most of his hind legs. He is now having litter box issues and his family doesn't want him in their ne...

I don't know if they will help since your baby is dragging his hind legs. If I'm not mistaken you can now get them through Drs. Foster and Smith catalogs.
