Critters you have been a huge inspiration

I'm fairly new and you have been the one who offers advice, comfort and the occasional motivator. I want you to know how much your caring has meant to me and every one else here. Thank you and if you need help in South Carolina, LET ME KNOW!. Best wishes and God bless you for your kindness and your ...

Re: Baby Winni the Wonder Dog

Just a thought: When St. Jude was down to one leg, me dragging him (and he let me drag him outside to do business) and I had to do therapy on rear legs (which scared me to death) I had brainstorm, let him do it himself, I would hit his tickle spot on tummy and that leg would pump all by itself, rath...

try try again

Ok, went to Purina website saw Puppy Litter, thought HANDICAPPEDPETS.COM. Bought some this weekend. With six dogs haven't had time to train, but am hopeful, what a Godsend it would be! The litter is pellets, the box is huge (Allicks will be big some day), she knocked the bag all over the dining room...

Re: shameless plug for my new store

Congratulations! How do you find the time? I hope to make my little Allicks as world renowned as Bendy Kitty some day, hopefully as a therapist for children. She's going in to 2nd week of training on Sat. You can sell blind puppy t-shirts too, when I get a photo of her! Way to go! Karen ANderson

Blind Puppy - Allicks Good News all around

Went in for surg. 2/11-Doc said we could put it off a little longer, I'm delirious because I SWEAR SHE CAN SEE, if only shapes, or shades or periphally, or something, but with the eyeball removed there is no hope at all. So the loan I took out to pay for it is going towards private Puppy Lessons at ...

Sure!

I still have the ramp in my yard, let me crawl around in the dirt and get my dimensions & supplies list and I'll be back!

Blind Puppy Baby Buggy Bumpers

Saw a great photo at a blind dog web: A half (or so) hula hoop attached to a regular harness which acts as a "bumper" for the pup who is bent on running into things at a high speed and you cringe when they hit! Had checked out the Build-A-Harness site but you need power tools for that. Thi...

Re: Plans for One Story Ramp?

Yes, I'm a real do it yourselfer. Go to Home Depot with photos of pup-I took many color photos and a bucket of emotion. Measure the distance of the ramp-if it's more than a 25-30deg. or so incline (depending on the dog's ability), get hinges-2 per "step". 4 1x2s top bottom & sides, ply...

Re: HELP getting worse!!!!!!!!!!!

Johanna, I have nothing to offer, but agree that the pads do work. You can also get the puppy pee pads at Walmart, 16 for $7.00 or so. You need a break, you are emotionally wasted, you are working so hard and feverishly that you can't allow yourself to feel or relax, because the pain would be unbear...

Re: I just found out my puppy has cancer

I agree. St. Francis has worked many miracles. If you are willing to embrace this particular angle, as I did with my St. Jude, take him to a priest (mine, Father Mike, has two dogs and is Parish Priest at St. Francis by the Sea. He does blessings once or twice a year.) Find a priest who loves animal...

Patron Saint for the Hopeless

St. Jude was found 2 years ago. He had been run over by a car, both hips shattered, front leg shot, both bones in front shattered, starved, a living breathing skeleton with a broken tail which he tried to wag when he first saw me, and eating rocks. How and why he dragged himself to my house is a com...

Re: Distractions during the day???

All of mine, save one, stay in the house during the day. In fact, this whole mess started when I got Ambrr, my dog, her own puppy. She wanted one for Christmas in 2001. Booda is made of cornstarch and I have been told is more easily digestible than the rawhide which can clump in the intestines. Also...

Blind Puppy - Allicks - surgery sched. for 2/11

Well, last mo. Dr. W. said we would not have to remove eyeball, could needle aspirate it, it wasn't cancerous. Now says the eyeball will have to be removed. Swelled up so it's bulging. Don't know if its a natural course of events or because she plays so rough or because the bully dog who outweighs h...

Re: Wonderful Christmas present

I believe each "challenged" four-legged soul (oh, look out I'm anthropomorphizing again!) has a reason to be. Your inspiring story reminded me that I had thought to get my Allicks (blind puppy) to some sort of therapy dog group. What an inspiration she would be for children who are overcom...
