Re: Trouble using our Walkin' Wheels

Please call the office, Lori, at (603) 577-8854. Speak with Nancy Bregger.
We can solve this in several ways. Our leg-ring support system has been working very well for larger animals. A few simple adjustments should solve this.

Warm Regards to you and Mr. Beebs,
Mark Robinson

Re: can a German Shepherd senior use wheelchair?

Note: I have moved this from the Walkin' Wheels FAQ forum to the Mobility Forum. YES, a senior German Shepherd can used the Walkin' Wheels. We have dozens of German Shepherds who are able to use the cart with great results. You'll probably want the largest wheels, especially if he is an active dog. ...

Rear Harness Improvements/Adjustments for Comfort

Some users have expressed concern over the fit back harness. In most cases, the back harness works well and can be trimmed to avoid hampering the dog's ability to pee and poop. Some dogs, based on the anatomy of their rear end, experience a 'bunching up' of the harness in the back. This should not b...

Knuckle that Holds the leg and frame slips

The black plastic part that holds the leg to the body is called a "Knuckle". By loosening the knuckle, you can fold the cart flat. It has been reported by a few users that the knuckle has loosened while the dog was in the cart and the knuckle slipped a notch or two. The knuckle is designed...

Feet won't stay in stirrups

Originally, the stirrups were made of straps, covered with a Velcro & Neoprene Sleeve.
In April 2009 we replaced these with a 'bunji cord' type material with a piece of flexible rubber tubing at the bootom for foot comfort.
This stirrup is more comfortable and easy to adjust.

Survey Results: Did your dog adapt quickly to the wheelchair

We asked Walkin' Wheel owners: Did the dog adapt quickly to the Dog Wheelchair? What tips would you have for a first time user of the dog wheelchair to get the dog used to it? Golden - She adapted pretty quickly A few treats come in handy French Bulldog - It took him a month or two. He still cannot ...

Re: Is the wheel chair right for my dog?

We've had great success so far, but not 100%. Some dogs simply won't get used to the cart. This is part of the reason we have a good return policy. We can't take the harness back after it's been used - but the harness can be used alone as a lifting harness (order the handles). See the website for th...

Re: Larger Dogs needs X-Large Rear Harness

You'll need to make the legs a little longer. The effect of this is that the frame of the cart is level with the top of the dog and the dog's rear end is below the back frame of the cart. Pictures coming in a few days.

Re: I don't need my Walkin' Wheels anymore

HandicappedPets.com LOVES Corgi Aid... but remember, the Walkin' Wheels isn't 'made' for any size dog. Even if you have a Newfi that no longer needs the cart, it will adjust in size to fit a corgi by just swapping out the wheels and few extenders (no tools needed.) If you donate your cart to Corgi A...

Prior to April 10 we offered the 4" and 8" foam filled wheels, plus the 12" and 16" air-filled pneumatic, rubber tires. On April 10th we made available a 12" and 16" foam filled wheel. ("Tires" are air-filled like car tires. "Wheels" are foam-filled)...

Re: Amputated leg

Here's a photo of a cart with a piece of foam, glued to the harness, where the leg is missing. Whether or not you do this depends on how the leg was amputated. If there is a stump, then the foam is not needed. If the leg is amputated at the hip and there is no stump, the dog may be quite a bit more ...

Re: accomodating a less than cooperative pet

Some suggestions we've found really helpful include: Get him used to the harness first. Leave the front and back harness on for a while so they can get used to it. If you are useing the harness as a lifting harness, wither with the straps that are there or with the optional carrying straps, this wil...

Small 4" wheels too loose or too tight

If you're having trouble with the 4" wheels -- either they are not turning well or the locknut is coming off, this post addresses that. The Locknut: The locknut has a small plastic piece inside it that keeps it from coming off the bolt that is used for an axle. RIGHT: locknutcorrect.jpg Notice ...
