Re: Daily living with a small paralyzed dog? Need input!

Hi Brett I wrote a long post to you yesterday but have seen it didn't go through:( Anyway, I have an 11 year old Pug, same weight as your Boy, with DVDD. She was suddenly paralysed in the hind legs over a year ago, we got lucky because I found this Site and turned her issue around from thinking Euth...

Re: HELP !! New @ All of This

Hi! If you haven't already done so have a look at this Link which should help, sounds as though your Dog isn't emptying completely... https://www.handicappedpets.com/mediawiki/?title=Bowel_management_in_incontinent_pets My Dog can stand to eat and drink but not walk but moves in that crossed back le...

Re: Good Sign ? ! ?

Standing is good! My Duchess didn't support her weight for many months and then one day when I was holding her to eat, I didn't feel her weight so took my hand away and hey presto she stood and ate, I was doing the Happy Dance that night! Since then I place her in a stand position to eat and drink a...

Re: Seventh month with IVDD

Hi and welcome from me too! Sorry to hear of your Boy's issues but as you say his attitude is great, unlike their owners most down dogs accept the situation and live for the Day. My Duchess went down over a year ago aged 10 and being an elderly Pug wasn't the most active kid on the block!! I saw no ...

Hi Sue

I bet Clyde's like greased lightening as we say, Wheels give them back their freedom and it's so good to see it!! A lot of people say the Acupuncture does help so I hope Clyde benefits. Roll on the Pictures of him, can't wait:)

Happy Days.

Re: Carl Trial Update - We have some movement!

From little Acorns Oak trees grow, any improvement/healing is a Light isn't it? Good to hear that Carl is happy, Dogs have the Gift to live in the Moment. Bobbie, Candy has been down a long time but even so is still very much alive and kicking (literally):) Muscle tone is always a concern so pleased...

Re: Carl Trial Update - We have some movement!

Hi Joanne I am very late on this thread, sounds as if Carl is doing the same as my Duchess. She had no Meds apart from initial Steroids. There was no improvement for 7 months and then she just started to move more easily and the tail wag! She may not improve further but she is doing just Grand as sh...

Re: need help and advice for parents dog

That made me laugh, Clyde probably stores it up especially for you!! I did buy some wheels from the UK, so can't recommend in your part of the World. Duchess is old and didn't walk far in any event when she could, I did try her in them a couple of times but she wasn't impressed. For younger and more...

Re: need help and advice for parents dog

Hi there Well, it wasn't the News you would have wished for from the Vet but at least he was honest so you won't go to a lot of expense to most probably be disappointed. Clyde's doing well, it took Duchess 9 months to stand on her own to eat and drink. Like Clyde she gets around very well in her own...

Re: dog hit by car, tail and rectal tone seem paralyzed

Hi Labryrinth Maybe an idea to start your own thread under the Incontinence Forum, that way people get to see your issues easier. In the meantime please scroll up one post and you will find info. on expressing the Bowels. Really, Bowel Incontinence is not difficult to deal with, a Farm is not the pl...

Oh just love those Photos! Clyde looks as snug as a bug in a rug :) Sue, the more you and your husband get into the Swing of things the tears will go and you will be in Awe how these little and large Guys cope, they have such Pride and self pity just isn't on their Radar. They are simply amazing. Re...

Re: need help and advice for parents dog

Hi Sue and Julie and Clyde! I have a 10 year old Pug who was suddenly paralysed in her back legs in February, floppy legs, no tail movements, nothing waist down worked. I was in tears thinking euthanasia, I had no knowledge or had not even heard of this problem except in a slower progressing disease...

Hi Jed I have seen a Sheepdog rounding up the Flock in one of the roughest and hilliest areas parts of Yorkshire, UK, using a Cart. It was twisting and turning getting those Sheep into line and moved like Lightening, it was amazing. I wish you well with Maisie, you are already doing so much to help ...
