Re: 16-yo cat with pancreatitis / Remdesivir for FIP

If you like the pureed meat you can order such from a human wholesaler or restaurant place for probably less. Hospitals and nursing homes too, if you have an "in" anywhere. We're glad he's a little better!! :grouph:

If it's available for humans in the US, I don't see why you'd have to order it from Canada (unless it's cheaper, of course). People use stuff off-label all the time. If it were me with that tiny smidge of a pill I'd pop it in by hand, then if it hit spit and melted I'd consider that a win.

Re: Old-fashioned clothesline

I used mine considerably longer past the cracked stage. I expect you have turnbuckles on 1 end of each line, for tension because the lines stretch over time. If you're lucky you might have them on both ends, but they're more expensive.

Once we got the right splint he took to it quickly. We had to kiss a lot of toads before that, though. It's absolutely possible he's more spastic some days than others; it's true of humans, too.

Re: Stirrup Help

Hmm. It's terribly important to prevent skin breakdown the best you can. Might a bit more cushioning help? I get what you're saying about scoliosis/kyphosis; my Ares, who was brain damaged rather than spinal cord injured, was bent and twisted, too. One of my SCI boys had to do 2 rounds of gabapentin...

Re: Old-fashioned clothesline

Oh, I just got those lines replaced when the post rotted. They last decades. Eventually the plastic breaks, lets water in, and the metal inside rots. It's not a big deal to replace the wires, should it be necessary. Sometimes the hardware--like the turnbuckles--is terribly annoying first.

Re: Keeping bed dry

:whale: Maybe changing the wrap more often might help prevent UTIs? The thing is that pee all over everywhere can and does cause skin breakdown and even chemical burns, so even a butt buzz cut and skin protectant spray might help on that score. Zinc creams need to be covered by a diaper or something...

Re: Newbie! Needing advice re knuckling and stiff feet

Well, Koi needed surgery for his contracture (he'd been shot in the spine), but she tried to reassemble his tendons, so it didn't work. If you ask me, it's better to be floppy than contracted, because floppy is easy to correct and stabilize in a relatively normal position with a splint. Contracted h...
