Hi Jean,
If you can you might take him to the vet and ask if they will give him some steroids. I would put him on crate rest for a week or two and see if it helps. I know he's old but this can happen to younger dogs, too. I hope he bounces back for you!

Re: Dogs Dog Rescue?
Hi Jennifer, This is not the first time a down dog has caused marital friction. There was a case of a 21-year old dog that was attacked by another dog and couldn't walk. The vet suggested euthanasia and the owner's husband turned out to be useless in terms of helping with the nursing care. This caus...

Option Five: Puppytraining pads
You can wait a couple of weeks until his legs have had a chance to mend a little before trying to take him outside. In the meantime, buy a stack of puppytraining pads, some baby wipes, latex gloves and paper towels, and potty him indoors. Let him lie on the puppytraining pad in his bed. If he does h...

Option Three: Wheelchair for rear and harness for front *LIN
There are many different styles of wheelchairs. They are not all made on the same design. It is important to note that some wheelchairs are harder to get your dog into than others. One style that is easier than the others to get your dog into is Eddie's Wheels. You put the dog into a cart harness, t...

Option One: Quad Cart *LINK*
Hi JD, Yes, you definitely have a situation there. There are several options, perhaps none perfect but you'll have to figure out which one you prefer to work with. Fortunately, the sitation is temporary. Your first option is a quad cart--that's a four wheeler like a baby walker. That would be ideal ...

Re: Cats Nerve paralysis of front leg *LINK*
If you click the link at the end of this message, it gives you another splints website from a list Critters made up. I agree with Critters, I would give it time. My dog had paralysis in her rear legs but she recovered use of them, but it also took months. However, as Critters said, once she began to...

Re: Help Needed: Boxer
Hi Heather,
I am sorry to hear there were other complications for your boxer. I know she had the best of care and felt she was loved and cared for. That is all any of us can ask. My sympathy to you and your family.

Expressing
Hi Karen,
Would you please describe how you are expressing her--what position, how many hands you use, etc.? If I can't check back tonight, I don't have to work till noon tomorrow so I can respond in detail tomorrow morning. Thanks!

Re: Other Paralysis of the Rear Legs *LINK*
Hi Karen, I have a 7-lb. reindeer chihuahua (white with fawn markings) who also has rear-end paralysis due to a spinal fracture mid-back. She has a spinal fusion. I do not use diapers with her because I express her bowel as well as her bladder. If I don't express her bowel, she doesn't have movement...
