Baking cookies (with your cat)

I got this from another site: Baking cookies (with your cat) 1. Look in cookbook for cookie recipe. 2. Get cup of coffee. 3. Get cat off of cookbook. 4. Find that special recipe. 5. Get cat's nose out of coffee mug. 6. Go to fridge and get eggs. 7. Get dry ingredients from cupboard. 8. Break eggs in...

Re: new to group - introduction and litterbox question

I have a 21-year-old cat who has problems with her hind legs, amongst other things, such as hyperthyroidism, kidney failure, anemia, gastro-intestinal problems, incontinence, and alternating constipation and diarrhea. She has just recently begun having problems getting in and out of the litter boxes...

Re: poopybutt house

The price varies, depending on where you buy it from. I have been getting it from the vet. If you search the internet, the best prices I have seen are $8.45 for 25 wipes or $17.00 for 100 wipes. Here is a link with various sellers, sizes, and prices: http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=malacetic+wip...

Re: poopybutt house

My 21-year-old cat, Rowdy, has some fecal incontinence problems and I don't think she licks her butt anymore, and sometimes she drags her butt on the floor to help dislodge a stuck turd. I had been wiping her butt with plain soft single ply unscented white toilet paper moistened with warm tap water....

Re: Mimosa is a very sick kitty right now

Have you asked your vet about reglan anti-nausea syrup and/or pepcid antacid? I have had good results with both of those.

puremutt,

I edited your post and fixed your smilie. It needs to be exactly as it is on the list, with the letters in lower case oops, not upper case OOPS, and with a : before and after, no spaces.

Re: What is difference between NSAIDs and steroids?

Steroids can cause loss of bone density, suppress liver function, and suppress the immune system. The negative side-effects are generally shorter-lived than the positive effects. That is why steroids are typically give every other day or every third day when used long-term, in order to minimize side-...

Re: SUCCESS

I can relate. This all sounds familiar. I have child safety locks on most of my cabinets and ponytail bands wrapped around adjoining cabinet knobs. One set of shutters has a magnetic latch, a hook and eye latch, and a ponytail band around the knobs. That is all to keep the cats from getting into thi...

Re: Anyone else with CRF cat?

I don't know whether you saw it yet or not, but you got a response from Lynn on the Yahoo feline CRF group: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Feline-CRF-Support/message/162779 I think anyone else is probably waiting for you to answer her questions before they respond. Sometimes people just post res...

Re: Anyone else with CRF cat?

Oxyglobin is a blood substitute that stores well and can be given to a cat with any blood type. My local emergency vet keeps it in stock and can give some as a temporary measure until they order some of his rare type B blood shipped from Sacramento. Local blood banks do not carry type B feline blood...

Re: Anyone else with CRF cat?

I currently have two cats with CRF. One is 21 years old (Rowdy) and the other is 16 years old (Tuxedo). Both also have anemia. Rowdy is also hyperthryoid and Tuxedo is a former diabetic. Both are still enjoying a good quality of life. They are able to eat and drink and use the litter box on their ow...

Re: Sub-Q Fluids

I wouldn't risk unsterile tap water either. Also, tap water might rehydrate, but won't balance electrolytes. I have a cat who is a former diabetic, who now has kidney failure and anemia. I also have another cat with kidney failure and anemia. Both get daily subcutaneous fluids, so I agree that dehyd...

Re: Post Surgical - Neuter

I believe that a vasectomy rather than castration has always been an option, but usually isn't mentioned, because it defeats a major purpose. If they are castrated, it stops the hormones and stops the male behavior. If they just have a vasectomy, they cannot produce children, but the external appear...
