Re: hip dysplasia: Rear End Support Leash

Prior to my English Setter getting his cart, we used the Rear End Support leash exclusively. At first he could walk, but fell frequently. Then he deteriorated further and couldn't seem to make his hind legs work. Strange, but in the cart he actually uses his hind legs!! I still use the Rear End Supp...

Re: Dogs: Does this ever get any easier?

My 65 pound English Setter, Bogie, has a wheelchair. Without it, he can't walk at all. Sometimes I take him outside to potty with his Bottoms Up leash because he seems better able to empty his bladder with that for some reason. We have a tough time because his back legs seem useless...but when he's ...

About wheelchairs

I can only speak of my experience with my English Setter's cart. It's from Eddie's Wheels. I have to believe that dogs who have lost their mobility would take to the cart when they discover it allows them some freedom. My Bogie was a little hesitant for awhile, but needed no coaxing. Some people use...

Re: Other: Carol T.

Connie, you're such a sweetie! Except for the heat, we're all doing great! Dogs and I are in a barely adequate A/C part of the house (built c. 1850). Kitties just have a fan, so I've been wetting them down with paper towels for "natural air conditioning!"

Re: Other: Posting a picture

It should accept that format. I've had that happen before, and just resized it to make it smaller.

Re: Other: sydney has passed away

What a sweet picture!! You spared Sydney the pain, and she began on her journey to heaven with her loving family at her side. She slipped gently into slumber feeling the love you all had for her. I have had to have several pets euthanized, and it is very, very hard. My heart goes out to you. Please ...

Re: Urinary: nightmare pee every night, might need to put to

I wonder if a medication called Proin 75 would help the excessive urination. It's a product for urinary incontinence in dogs. I would get an opinion from another vet, preferably a vet school. Sometimes these things happen in old dogs...and old people!! If you love him, and he's a family member, then...

Re: News: might be deep pain again?

Although I don't have the info you need (others do), I wanted to comment on your wonderful vet!! So many people on this board have encountered vets who are almost adamant that a dog should be euthanized if it can't walk!! Hug your vet for me!!!

Re: Dogs: Does this ever get any easier?

Shani: You said "I know he could get better, but there's a chance he wont." That sounds like 50/50 odds, which is pretty good. It would be a shame to put him down when there are odds he could recover. Your attitude affects his, so it's important to try and stay positive around him. It's eq...

Re: Dogs: Well Stephanie, How's the New Addition?

I just love your Monty story! Sometimes I think I relate too much! I cried when I read that you told Monty stories of Tama. I do things like that with my dogs and cats, too. (With my cats, I recount the events of the day I rescued them). I think they listen...and Monty decided he needed to practice ...

I notified Mark and asked him to remove it. It looks like he did. I am praying that it didn't get to Stephanie's mail box.
