You have really got your hands full
with that dog! Isn't she something?! I think if these young creatures didn't have such boundless energy, they wouldn't survive their own antics to live to adulthood. I'm scared to ask what she did today for an encore. Don't blame you for frowning on the attempts at jumping. I guess on the positive s...

Re: Help Needed: My Dog has a 104.2 fever
Hi Lori, Is she up on her vaccines, like for parvo and everything? If your vet doesn't know, it might not hurt to call around to a few other large vet clinics and describe what is going on with your dog and see if they have had any similar cases. Perhaps your vet could contact your regional veterina...

NexCare No-Sting Liquid Bandage *LINK*
Hi Debbie, I put a link to Walgreen's online so you can see the spray. It is the same as Cavilon, now available through 3M's consumer line, NexCare. I'm not sure the price will be a lot better, though. The only two times my dog got a urinary tract infection, she was in season both times. I'm not wor...

Re: Expressing Properly - Fourth *LINK*
Here is one more method of expressing. Reading it reminds me of my experience where I thought I had my dog fully expressed and then the vet expressed a large quantity from her to my great chagrin. I guess the only way you're really going to know if you're doing it properly is to empty her and then a...

Here is a link to a previous post on the subject. It describes expressing a small dog, but am reposting it anyway.

Expressing Properly *LINK*
Hi Jennifer, Yes, those are very good signs, great signs! So glad to hear the good news. As far as your question about how to tell if you are expressing her properly, all I can say is you get better as you go along. I think it comes down to developing a feel for her bladder, which you gain through p...

Pill Pockets -- for dogs and cats *LINK*
See link below for Pill Pockets.
I fold a third of a slice of Borden cheese around the pill for the golden retriever and give it by hand. I smear peanut butter on the pill for the dachshund and drop it into her food dish (I want to keep all my fingers!)

Re: Yipes!! P.S.
I just looked up feline asthma and eosinophils. It's interesting, it talks about fragrances as a trigger. I've just used up a whole bottle of Simple Solution on the carpet, one spot at a time, about two spots a day, because of the new dachshund. It has a pleasant fragrance, but definitely a fragranc...

Re: News: update
Tennessee is one of the prettiest places I've ever been. Drove across the corner of it once. Wonder if Starr has ever seen snow... Wanted you to know, I recommended Doggles to someone recently based on seeing your dog in them. The lady I spoke to had just adopted a blind dog. At first I thought Dogg...

Re: Yipes!!
> "EOS was high' probably means Eosinophils, a kind of white blood cell" Isn't this the type of white blood cell that is indicitive of asthma in cats? Thank you, I didn't know what that was or what it might possibly mean. I could ask the vet about that. Someone at work suggested maybe he h...

Yeah, they sell 'em cheap at the thrift shop here too. Trouble is, they're repackaged in clear plastic and they're always "mystery size"!

Re: Help Needed: Hit by a car
Hi Mandy's Mom, Something I do when I'm washing dog blankets that are truly soiled is to add a little borax to the wash water along with the usual laundry soap and bleach. Remember old-fashioned 20-Mule Team Borax like we used to put in the diaper pail? It makes me feel so good every time I put a fr...

Re: Cats FIV/FUS/CRF
> Did they follow the + SNAP test with the lab version (Western Blot, I believe) to confirm FIV? Yes, they did both the ELISA and the Western Blot. I've always done that with my FIV cats. However, this time they had to send it off to New York to be read and they charged me either $120 or $150, don't...

Re: Help Needed: Amputation after care for cat
Hi Anne, I wish I knew something that would help. My cat had a pain patch after bre*st cancer surgery where they removed all 8 bre*sts and left a 3" long drain in, and it worked extremely well. She was very comfortable. That one patch lasted around 10 days. It was amazing. I guess I would smoot...
