Re: German Shepherd in Kearney, NE area has until Feb 15th
Thank you. I have emailed the ones I didn't have before. I am currently in correspondence with Laura Bradshaw of Healing Heart Sanctuary in Utah. She is full, but is following some leads for me as well. Hopefully this story can still have a happy ending

Re: German Shepherd in Kearney, NE area has until Feb 15th
Yes, I'm sure he does understand simple rest. He said Ed is a nice dog and he'd like to see him live out his life, too. But he said Ed has to be making progress or basically we're just wasting our time. I mentioned a wheelchair and he said it wasn't fair to make him live his life like that. I asked ...

Re: German Shepherd in Kearney, NE area has until Feb 15th
~~~ Important update for everyone: Things just got tougher today. I was going to take him to a kennel closer to my house, but the vet on the case said he won't allow me to do that. He said he wasn't going to "pawn him off somewhere else". He said wherever he goes has to be legitimate and t...
Re: German Shepherd in Kearney, NE area has until Feb 15th
I already contacted Rolling Dogs Ranch. They said they don't take paralyzed dogs. I tried to explain he could move his legs, but they said anything that can't stand on it's own is by definition paralyzed. They were kind of rude about it, too....
Re: German Shepherd in Kearney, NE area has until Feb 15th
I wish he had a month, but I was lucky just to get him a week. :( He is already on prednisone as of Friday the 5th, when he came in, but so far very little change. Anything that could have injured him is possible since no one saw him get hurt. I know he started acting weak in his back a day or two b...
Re: Tail Amputation
You probably already tried this, but an old fashioned E-collar securely fastened may do a world of good. He'll hate it, but if it keeps his tail in one piece, might be worth it!
Re: How do you clean your incontinent dogs?
Good ideas here. Something else that helps is petroleum jelly. My incontinent cat got a scald under her diaper too, and her vet recommended petroleum jelly to keep a barrier in-between her tender skin and the diaper. It worked pretty well, and it's simple to do. There are also waterless shampoos on ...
German Shepherd in Kearney, NE area RESCUED!!!
This guy's name is Ed. He is a farm dog that came into the clinic where I work in the Kearney, NE area. He can not stand on his back legs. An x-ray rules out a fracture, so it's most likely a blown disc in his back. The owner doesn't want to put any more into him and plans to euthanize. But he and m...
Re: Cat Tail Pull Injury/Incontinence/phenoxybenzamine
I would just like to add that acupuncture can help in the right pets. I was skeptical to try it with own incontinent cat, but I agreed to try the vet's recommendation. We've done four treatments once a week for a month, and my cat has gained back a lot of her sensation and it has helped her injury s...
Re: no support for incontinent cat
Licalyme, I am also a "parent" of an incontinent kitty. I got her six months ago as a kitten from the vet clinic where I work. She'd had an injury in the area where the tailbone starts, right over the pelvis. So poop just kind of fell out whenever and she couldn't pee on her own. Her owner...
