Help Needed: Need help for Buddha *PIC*

Post by Rev Bette Trumble »

I was given a 3 month old Boston Terrier, who we lovingly call Buddha.
The previous owner did not want the resposibilities and Oh My Goodness how he wanted in my arms.
I took my prize home and loved and nurtured him.
At the age of 9 months and we relocated to Florida, To assist my Mother as her health is an issue. She was diagnosed with Lymphoma and suffers with a vascular disease.
Here in Florida, in the tough grass, Buddha showed serious signs of hip problems.
I went to see Dr Erwin at the Belleview Vet Hospital.
Buddha had to have surgery as he has congenital
birth defects and neither hip would stay in the socket.
When Dr Erwin opened Buddha up, for the Right Femoral Head Excision surgery, he panicked as the nerve was not where it should be.
It has taken a year for the nerves to regenerate and still today when the right leg is stressed his right hind paw drags backwards.
Buddha needs to have the left hip done and I am going to take him to Gainesville Hospital, where the specialists teach.
They have quoted me $2500.00 for the surgery.
I am a minister and my mothers caregiver, I have no income and we need funds for Buddha, is there any place you know of that can assist us in raising the funds needed?
Anyone that you know of that can help us?
Buddha suffers each day, and for now the only help I can truly give him besides love is, is a warm bath and Dr Erwins 3 baby aspirin a day remedy.
I dont like using the aspirin and fear that one day he will have problems from the aspirin.
I was giving him one on the morning and one and night but after months of this, I quit all together and use the warm baths as much as I can.
Buddha loves to play and there is no stopping him, he just hurts so bad at the end of the day, my heart breaks.
Thank you for listening,
Blessings,
Rev Bette Trumble aka peacewalker

What a sweet little face!! I'm going to post a few links I have saved from this site. I'm not sure the list is complete, but it gives you a place to start. You might also check with Boston Terrier groups to see if they could help.
Here are links to sources of financial aid. One is a loan, the others outright grants.

Care Credit

The following are grants:

Angels4Animals

Help-A-Pet

The Pet Fund

United Animal Nations

Orthodogs

IMOM.org

This little guy is very small.
He is a full grown Boston and weighs in at 10 pounds.
Dont let his size fool you though.
He is so wonderful for my Mother and brings her so much joy.
He is a major healing force in our home.
Thank you for the list.
I have checked in with the Boston Terrier groups and they have given me the same lists.
I will keep trying, I can't give up hope and I faith that some where some how we will get the help we need.
Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Bette

Rev. Bette, they do more for us than we could ever do for them, as you say. Buddha wants to live! My doctor said Jude could not survive. He had been shot and starved, but when doc found he had been run over and both hips crushed, well, he was going to be put to sleep (he was a charity case) I took some toys and a collar to the hospital that night and sobbing threw myself over his body on the table. Put on his collar so he would die with a family, too late.
His story was told over the county and two states. He was in newspapers about 5 times, on television and Rev. Bette, he raised his own rescue money.
So get Buddha's story out in the media. Folks love to help helpless critters (sorry critters) and will hopefully show their love with Buddha.
I wrote Jude's stories and the paper gratefully published (lack o'news in Beaufort SC) and other papers picked up on the story and did their own interviews.
