Does anyone know if really hot weather has an effect on seizure activity. My CH dog Jack has been having bouts of dry heaves. The vet says these are baby seizures, give him a half dose of phenobarb and a little ice cream.(just a small spoonful) This always works but I was wondering if a cooling bed would help. I appreciate any help.

I don't know about seizures, but it definately makes one heave. I heave every night when I get home, from being stuck in it for over an hour. There are a variety of heat induced illnesses, and they come in varying degrees ( no pun :o intended). A cooling bed would definately help, and I JUST saw a cooling vest. But having lived in the south with no a/c for over 6 years, I developed some great ideas. You CAN wet sheets or towels and lay on them. Take a doggie dana and wet it, toss in freezer for 15 minutes or so. Same with tee shirts. I used to wet my jammies before I put them on at night. I stayed cool all night long. I DID have a problem sleepign on wet sheets, but only ON them and not UNDER them.

I used to use a sprayer to mist myself at night, but I don't think I could hack wet clothes. I'm a child of the South land too, but not as south as Karen. No AC x 15 years. We LOVE our fans!!!!
