My guy has been on Phenobarbital for some time now and it really is helping him. But it seems to have lowered his thyroid which I read could be common. My vet put him on 0.3mg twice a day and we will recheck in six months when we do our bi-annual bloodwork from the seizures/brain tumor. He also gets 45mg of Phenobarbital twice a day.
Anyways, my question is who else here is taking these two medications concurrently? My vet said the dose is low enough we should be fine. But of course I come home and look things up online and I see you can have issues if you take these two medications together. But we have to!!!
So I guess I just need comfort that other people who are on the Phenobarbital ended up having to also give them Thyroxine and have had no issues and no horrible side effects?
Phenobarbital and Thyroxine
