Strange seizures with a lot of screaming

Post by medute »

Hi,

I have an almost 9 year old frenchie with 2 non correctly evolved vertebras. Couple weeks ago he starded to yelp while waking up. He was given Loxicom for a week, seemed that it helped, but at the 7 day he couldnt even climb on the bed, he was yelping from even a little move. Then he was given Rapidexon and Analgin, his pain has gone, but he started to defecate with blood and his muscles were twerking. These medicines were given 3 times in a period of six days. After about 3days from the last Rapidexon injection his pain came back, he can barely move and he had seizures, when he fell on his side with his legs streched, started scream and urinate. It happend already about 10 times in 3 days, he was given phenobarbital, analgin, nospa and diazepam, but nothing actually helped. Now he can barely stand, his moves are not cordinated, head is moved to one side and it seems that he cant see normaly. Can this all be because of these 2 vertebras? Or it is more likely to be a tumor? Or a stroke?

This sounds like a spinal cord problem, possibly related to his vertebrae. He may have a problem called hemivertebrae, where the vertebrae are missing parts. Then he was given Rapidexon and Analgin, his pain has gone, but he started to defecate with blood This doesn't sound good. Is he straining to poop?and his muscles were twerking. These medicines were given 3 times in a period of six days. After about 3days from the last Rapidexon injection his pain came back, he can barely move and he had seizures, when he fell on his side with his legs streched, started scream and urinate. Not being there it's hard to say, but I could see this happening from a bolt of pain. Nerve pain, whether from a back or not, is a terrible thing. It happend already about 10 times in 3 days, he was given phenobarbital, analgin, nospa and diazepam, but nothing actually helped. Now he can barely stand, his moves are not cordinated, This one is hard, because it could be coming from either his head or his spine.]head is moved to one side I wonder if his neck could be bothering him or if the meds could be doing it? and it seems that he cant see normaly.I'm still thinking the meds because of diazepam. Can this all be because of these 2 vertebras? Or it is more likely to be a tumor? Or a stroke?Well, it could be.

:whale: OK, Rapidexon is a steroid, and Analgin is a pain reliever, although I can't find out what kind. No-spa seems to be for muscle spasms . http://diamondpharmaceuticals.net/drug/no-spa.html Loxicom is what we call meloxicam http://www.theodora.com/drugs/eu/loxico ... inary.html , a non-steroidal antinflammatory (NSAID).

Steroids and NSAIDS together can cause major belly problems, and I wonder if that's what the bloody poop is about? Is it diarrhea?

I stopped giving him melocicam after 7 days and then we were on Rapidexon. I guess corticosteroid caused bloody dhiarea, but we manage to stop it with betamox and dycinone.
Now what consernes me the most, is those seizures. If im on time noticing the signs, i have learnt to stop it. But almost every time he tries to urinate or defecate the seizure comes.

What does the vet say? I'd be suspicious of a brain tumor.

But if it is a brain tumor, shouldn't were been some signs before? Behavioral changes or something, while the tumor was growing? Cause it occurred suddenly.
Vet says we need to do a brain tomography, so we will do this on the next few days.

Seizure is often the first thing observed.

But it could also be something else-

Sometimes we are handed medical situations where the best medical interventions are still unable to save our pets. We wish we could do more but there are limits to what we can do. It is sad when we see them having a hard time, and we try and try to make it better for them. I seldom say this, but it sounds like it was just his time. You and your veterinary team did everything you could. If love and best efforts could have saved any dog in this situation, he would still be here. I am very sorry for your loss.
