avatar help?

Post by brockpfeif »

Hope this is the right place to ask this...I would like to put a pic of Ilsa under my name in my posts (avatar), but I'm having trouble with the sizing. When I get it down to even 18 kb I can't even see it in my photo program! Is is maybe because the resolution of my photo is so high to start with? I can get the pixels ok...to 60 wide by 80 high, but the file is still quite a bit larger than the size it says it has to be...Is there a trick to this I'm missing? Thanks for any help!

Yes, you are probably right, it is probably too high resolution to begin with. If you are doing a photo of her whole body, maybe try cropping it so it is just her face and see if you can get it down to 6KB? Paul Coover has PhotoShop and if you really can't get it to work, he could probably adjust the resolution for you, he's done it for other people. If you want to PM the photo to me, I'll try it in my photo program, too. I'm going to be up for a while, we have tons of fireworks going right now.

Hi Carol...thanks for your reply. I've been messing with my pic for a few days...I have photoshop but am not terribly proficient in it. The smallest I can get it is 14 kb, but it's blurry. I don't know what pm is, so I thought if I posted the pic here you might be able to copy it? Thanks for any help you can give. I can try taking another photo at low resolution...this was just always one of my favorites even tho it's a few years old! I did size it down enough to meet the requirements to post it here.
Thanks, Daphne

Thanks Christine...she is a cutie, isn't she? The problem I'm running into is that the avatar has to be 6kb. That's incredibly small, and I'm just not sure this photo can be taken down that small and still be visible. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your help...I think that photo is just not a good candidate for an avatar...I'll try taking another with the camera set on low resolution...that may solve the problem. Thanks again for the help!

Christine...how did you do the photo under your posts? It looks like it's probably set as your signature...did you use html to get the photo there?

Hi Daphne,

I went back to my profile to see if I could remember how I did that. It has been so long ago that I forgot that someone mentioned tinypic.com where you can host your image for download to places like this.

First, let me say, that I am not a good computer nerd, I just kind of do trial and error - some works, some does not...anyway, I went to www.tinypic.com to see if it gave me anymore info and it really doesn't. What I did do was upload Ilsa's picture there like I must have done with Bailey's. By the way, this picture of Ilsa is smaller than Bailey's so I think it should work. This is the link:

Go to your profile and paste this link in the box for your signature and then type in whatever you want for your signature and it should work.

Perhaps, whoever posted about this a long time ago is still here and can help if this does not work.

Sorry that didn't work, Daphne. Here is the confirmation email they sent me when I uploaded Ilsa's picture. When you click on the IMG link, her picture appears. Maybe you can figure it out with all of their information or maybe the person who posted about them will check in.

The following image is hosted at TinyPic.com.

Your original picture is absolutely beautiful..are you a photographer?

Daphne,

You left off the ".jpg" so I added it for you.
