Cpt. Jack has been in foster care for over a year now. He was found on the side of the road after being hit with his buddy who wasn't quite so lucky. A dedicated friend, he would not leave his buddy's side. After arriving in the animal shelter, Cpt. Jack's injuries were noticed by a Humane Society volunteer, who promptly took him to the vet. The animal shelter had let him suffer for a few days with a badly broken foot. Unfortunately, because of his lack of care, Cpt. Jack forever has a funny gait because the bones were left unchecked for too long. He spent several weeks in a cast and never healed. He has had a consult with an orthopaedic surgeon, who said that it could be fixable, but unfortunately, we do not have the funds for his surgery (approx 1-2K). The Humane Society is no longer housing their animals in the shelter facility, and is operating out of foster homes. With Cpt. Jack's foster mom moving soon and our shortage of fosters, we'd really like for Cpt. Jack to find his own forever home. He LOVES women, and would be an awesome companion for an older adult, or single woman. He is very protective of his foster mommy. He plays well with small dogs and big dogs, but prefers to be the only male dog of the household. He does play well with altered male dogs. He takes treats gently, prefers to potty in the play yard, and loves to rest his belly on the cool floor. He has a lot of personality, and is an all around awesome dog! Cpt Jack is looking for his first mate, could that be you?
