Subject: Sonny
This young boy was picked up by Animal Control in my town with
bloody scabby face....antibiotics and salve have begun to heal what
looked like burns.....He has booties on to keep his nails from breaking
the healing tissue....He is beginning to perk up and is on his way to
becoming whole....He has been gentle and sweet and tolerant of nursing
of wounds....He is young male intact....He needs a home willing to continue
his care....
I really don't have a clue as to his breed....he is small for a shepherd...
Pound wanted to put him down....vet thought it could be Mange but I
knew different...its burns from chemical is my guess...eyes are OK...
Don't know if the hair will grow back but he is in good spirits as of today...

Springfield, MO - Gentle soul with burns on face and feet
We've got to get him out of the pound to continue his care...what a beautiful dog. Look at those soulful eyes. Who could have done this????

I'm so glad that this little doggy was rescued.
You never understand how someone can hurt a poor defenseless creature.
We had a puppy in our area that was found in a trash dumpster. He had terrible chemical burns over most of his body. He was found with bailing wire wrapped around his body. Magnum didn't make it. Our community had a memorial service for him and we now have a fund in his name to help others in need. His story raised well over $30 thousand dollars. It is great that we can help other needy pets but it still hurts to think that "Our" Magnum couldn't be saved.
PS: Finally society is recognizing that abuse against pets almost always leads to abuse against people. Hopefully, these abusers can get the help they need before more pets and people suffer at their hands.
