Mom talked with denise yesterday about lil Butterbean and his care and her experience and transport. she said htey work with pilots n paws, but she asked if i knew about arranging other transport. uh, no. bendy knows nothing about transport. I know other ppl here do, tho.
I just sent her the info she asked for so we'll see if he can fly. It will be another week before he goes anywhere, as he is having surgery monday.

that's all the update i have for now.

I've had several rescues come to me, some by volunteer transport, some I've paid for flights and others have come via Pilots n Paws. let me know if you need any transport links/help.

well, we can get teh kitten as far as Greenville, SC. problem is that the kitten will arrive on the22 - and on teh 22 Bendy Mom is driving home from Philadelphia, doesn't know what time she will be back.

sls shepards, what are you doing on the 22? you and Bendy Mom live pretty close. any chance you coudl get the kitten and then bendy mom get him from you on the 23???

the other thing she was thinking was calling vet offices in Greenville to try and set up boarding for him, then pick him up from there on teh 23. problem with THAT is that we don't know what time the transport person will get to Greenville, and obviously the clinic would need to be open.

We live in Greenville, SC and have a large SUV. We work F/T but if we are off we would love to help with transporting any animals we can. We would b e able to do the transports to meet someone in any direction to meet-up so that the animals get where they need to go. I hope we can help sometime. Thank you.

I heard about this group last night at the Greenville County Council thing and had to join. I'm not a pilot but an animal lover so if I can help do anything (except fly a plane), ask. I also volunteer with Greyhound Crossroads and Speak for the Animals.

I am worried about the surgery, and it's not even any of my business. I remember Alex P. Kitten, and I remember BethT's cat, Speck.

I've been thinking of Alex P. Kitten. That little kitten really touched us. We miss him and remember him well.
I hven't heard anything at all about the surgery, I have asked. If something went amiss I think I would hear about it, so I'm taking this as no news is good news.

I will certainly let everyone know when mom gets home with him. the date is teh 23rd. she will be up visiting her dad the 20-22, so probably won't be online much then.

does anyone have a pict of Alex anywhere???

As usual, a long distance adoption I'm attempting has run into a huge snag.

The vet who was going to do Butterbean's amputation surgery did not do it, and says it will be done next week.
Well, his transport was set up for next week and, as everyone here knows, setting up transport is not an easy thing either.

We have a vet who is capable of performing the amputations, but it would not be a donation, We guesstimate it would be about $600 and maybe more.

So, we're trying to figure out what to do. The animal control officer down in Fl who is organizing all this (denise) just emailed me, she just found out herself. With his legs he will be a little extra work - needing cleanup, but they do need to go eventually as they are in the way, and the tail will need to go as it is not functional and just gets dirty. Ideas please.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.

My thoughts are that transport would be easier to set up than coming up with that much money. Did the vet want to wait until he was stronger and the sores on his bottom healed?

Question - is he in a foster home, at a vets or in a shelter? If he's in a shelter I'd lean towards getting him to you and making sure he's healthy (especially his skin) before proceeding with what is very major surgery. I've done several long distance adoptions and have had some come to me with significant health problems that I did not know about.

He is at a shelter, and one where they do not take good care of him. They did not change his diaper for THREE DAYS. any delay in transport would mean him staying there :(

I set up a 'chip in' fundraising site. please share it around.
