Just wanted to post an update, since i haven't in a while. Thanks for his Facebook pages he has picked up a fan club, including one lady who has covered ALL of his vet expenses and thanks to her he has been able to get to see an internal specialist, and have every last little thing done we could hope for. It's almost five years now that he's been here, I think I finally have things figured out.
the biggest challenge with him is gut motility, as in he has no lower gut motility. nada.
cisipride helps, but he has to have very soft stool, but not quite runny, or it won't pass. changing him to psyllium husk from pumpkin has helped tremendously. He is on a high fat diet and gets veggie oil and miralax and psyllium husk in his food as well as cisipride. He can sort of pee thanks to bethanacol but mostly I need to express his bladder. it doesn't help the looking at an x-ray of his abdomen is sort of like looking at Picasso's rendition of cat anatomy. Nothing is where it really should be.
He is a happy guy. He loves people. He loves riding in the car. He loves zooming around and exploring new places.
He has some neuro issues, hyperthesia syndrome which is managed with gabapentin and which will make him flip out and attack things. I have to wear cat bite gloves when I express and bathe him. but when he is not getting expressed and bathed he is a very happy guy. he has learned some social manners with other cats, but I have to keep a close eye on him because he can suddenly decide he wants to chompie his friend, or try to drag them away if they are small enough.
I love my little guy.
I do still think about the original person who rescued him from the field and had to drop him off at the shelter in Florida. I never found them.

I had to go back and ready the whole history. Did that bring back a lot of memories. Butterbean is one lucky and adorable little guy. Another wonderful success story for your "book".
I am so happy for you and your furs that they are finally getting the much needed additional exposure on Facebook - it was a long time coming. Look at the thousands more you are educating!
