Application - Petey AKA Bushick.docHi, Thank you for contacting us about Petey (also known as Bushwick)
and for your patience with my reply!
The hospital listed him as Petey on his records so we are referring to
him as that, but he is also known as Bushwick in online posts
and residents on the block called him Henry. His adopter gets to
choose his forever name! We have specific requirements for fostering
and adopting, plus all applicants must fill out the appropriate form &
email it back to
adoption@nycferalcat.org - please read below for all
the details. Your interest in him is GREATLY appreciated! Although I
can't respond to individual questions (or else I won't have the time
to work on new rescues which come in all day & night, 7 days a week) I
did want to update you on his latest status as you were one of the
very first people to email asking about him! Please see below for
more details, we will have a current photo up on our facebook page
shortly, see below for details. I did get a glimpse & he looks
comfortable & fine, like nothing happened to him! He is super
affectionate to the hospital staff and makes friends with everyone -
he is a really special cat! Everyone who is interested in fostering
or adopting him MUST fill out the appropriate attached application and
email it back to me at this email address. See below for specific
details on fostering requirements. We also need a foster and home for
his friend "Buddy" and several other 3-legged cats that were recently
rescued. Thank you to everyone who helped rescue Petey AKA Bushwick
and everyone working on trying to find a foster and permanent home for
him! You are lifesavers! Thanks also for all the postings,
cross-postings and mass emails about his needs. Your efforts are so
appreciated & helpful! See below for more updates on Petey & details
on his friend Buddy.
How old is Petey? He is almost a year old.
Is there a photo of Petey after surgery? Yes it will be posted soon on
our facebook page at our website
http://www.facebook.com/nycferalcat
Is he neutered? Yes
Has he been tested for feline diseases? Yes, he tested NEGATIVE for
FIV & Feline Leukemia.
Is he vaccinated & dewormed? Yes
When did he have surgery? Petey had surgery on Tuesday & came through
with flying colors!
Where did he have surgery? At the wonderful Humane Society of New York.
Can he have visitors? No, Petey is not able to have visitors.

several weeks before he is released.
Has his best friend "Buddy" been found yet? Petey's best friend
"Buddy" showed up the day after he was rescued and was crying and
looking for him. Buddy has not been found yet, but when he is, we
will need a veterinary appoinment for him, a foster home and a
permanent home for him as well. Ideally, they would be fostered or
adopted together but this may not be possible.
I have more questions, where can I get answers? We are not able to
answer individual questions about his status, but will post the latest
updates
& photos on our facebook page found on our homepage at
http://www.nycferalcat.org

cat with issues like Petey?
- We are are accepting applications from New York City residents only
at this time.
- WHERE TO EMAIL FOSTER & ADOPTION APPLICATIONS: Please fill out the
appropriate application & email it to:
adoption@nycferalcat.org If
you are have problems saving it, you can cut & paste the questions
into the body of an email and type your answers that way.
- All applicants MUST fill out either the foster or adoption
application, both are attached to this email, and email it back to
this address.
Please put the name of the cat(s) you are applying for - Petey (AKA
Bushwick), his friend Buddy, or another cat with issues (there are
several 3-legged cats that need homes right now!).

- Foster homes must be able to provide all cat food and cat litter.
- We do not know if Petey needs to be confined in a cage to facilitate healing.
- Foster homes must be able to foster for however long necessary, it
may takes months to find him a home. Also we can not take him back
while the foster home is on vacation, so this is big committment.
-To be fair, we will go through the applications in the order of who
first emailed about him, and the first person whose references are
available and check out will be chosen.
- We will not announce the name of the foster and the adopter will
only be announced with their permission.
Thank you again for your concern for Petey and his friend Buddy!
