We rescued Erin from animal control as we try to take as many of the special needs or injured dogs as we can rather than see them unable to make it out.
These dogs however end up costing us a bit above the normal routine vetting.
Erin has had her first preliminary vet exam for her foot and amputation is required. Susan felt that would be the only option and it is. Her split foot is a hazard and hangs up on everything, it will split up and cause injury if left intact. She also does not walk on the toes with the pads but on the folded over section that has no pad, more like walking on the back of her fingers.
We have our estimate, for her amputation and spay which we would like to do at the same time the cost will be 535$ Her amputation without spay is 468$ The vet quoted an additional 20$ for IV catheter which she will need so pain meds and fluids can be administered when necessary.
I hope everyone will share this message and help chip in toward the cost of Erin's surgery. When everyone gives a few dollars its easy to meet a goal! We are so extremely grateful for your continued support and generosity, you enable us to keep doing what we love, caring for the death row pets of Henry County!

That baby's hand looks a lot like Lefty's, although Lefty's missing one of the "fingers." It doesn't bother him in the least!
