My sweet baby dachshund needs a loving home

Post by sham3303 »

I have the sweetest dachshund puppy. He was born in July of 2010, he is full blood/not registered male dachshund. He was completely potty trained until his accident leaving him unable to walk on his hind legs. After the accident we took him to the vet and had him x-rayed and put on steroids. There was no internal damage or breaks, however, he has not been able to walk on his hind legs since. He is still very mobile, yet he has rubbed calluses on his tail, tailbone and the tops of his feet. I do not have the money to provide him with a wheelchair (homemade or store bought). He does go outside and use the restroom, but has issues holding it when he gets excited or during his sleep. He gets a long wonderful with our larger dog and loves to aggravate our cat. He does bark but its not loud and not often. He loves to cuddle and sleep under the blankets. I am looking for a sweet loving home to someone who can take care of him and provide him with the ability to walk or use a wheelchair to prevent him from tearing up his body even more. We are located in Fort Worth. If you have any questions or like to see a picture/video of him please let me know. Thank you.

This is a link to a list of rescue groups for paralyzed doxies. You might contact them.

http://www.dodgerslist.com/links.htm

Also, you might join the Dodger's List email group and explain what is going on. They are not a rescue group but they know a lot about what you are going through.

Here is another group that sometimes takes disabled doxies.

http://www.ddrtx.org/ (near San Antonio)

Here are some other dachshund rescue groups in Texas.

He sounds so adorable! Can you post some pictures here? I will crosspost him for you. Pictures are so helpful; your post will get more attention since there are hundreds of pets needing homes coming through the emails. To crosspost him, we will also need your contact information (that you are willing to have publicized).

Just checking on your baby doxie. Have you found a home? If not, I will help if you could post a picture.

Hello,
Is your Dachshund still available? I also had a Doxie, paralyzed at 9 years old. He passed away when he was 12 of congestive heart failure. Also nothing obvious in x-rays or injuries. He did start hoping/wiggling after approx. 9 months.
I also have a female Jack Russell, 8 years old.
Let me know asap
Sue
ps. If you have any pic's could you please email me them.
