Baltimore, MD:Ruby, 10-year-old blind Cocker Spaniel in Need

Post by jacqui-hearts »

*From Sherry, on behalf of the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance: We have been contacted by Ruby's owner for assistance in placing her in a loving home. At this time, we have no available fosters, and I'm reaching out to you in hopes you may help. Ruby's owner is facing great difficulty in caring for her and she is becoming overwhelmed. She calls us daily with tears and concerns. For this reason, we have deemed Ruby's placement as urgent. If you are unable to foster at this time, can you please point me in another direction? I have included Ruby's information below. If you are able to foster, I will forward the owner contact information. Thank you so much for your time. -- Sherry Willoughby, Intake Volunteer, Blind Dog Rescue Alliance

WHO IS RUBY? Female (altered); Cocker Spaniel; 10 y/o; Blind
WHERE IS SHE? Baltimore, MD
HOW CAN YOU HELP? Contact Sherry Willoughby at sherrywilloughby@yahoo.com

Vet/Medical Info: Ruby is spayed, and she was last at the vet 5/09. Esther made an appointment for last March but never showed up. Ruby is overdue for all vaccinations including Rabies and never has had a heartworm test. They said she comes in mostly to buy food. We were just informed that Ruby is now current on her rabies vaccination.
Owner Info: Ruby's owner loves her dearly but due to the economy cannot afford to care for her anymore. She adopted Ruby from a shelter and does not want her to have to go back to one. Ruby went blind about two years ago. Since going blind, she does not care for other dogs, but she loves people and cats. She has eczema as a result of meat allergies. Ruby is very sweet, good natured and just wants a loving home.

What a beautiful dog...she looks so young for 10 years old and her eyes don't show the blindness, same as Bailey's.

Welcome, Jacqui! :welcomeheart:

Everyone, this is Pam's (Troopersmommy) twin sister, artist extraordinaire and my rescue sister!

Please give Ruby a second look. Isn't she cuddly and sweet looking? She still needs a new home or a foster. Please crosspost her and think of who can possibly help. She is incredibly sweet and such a good dog who has just lost her sight.
