Meet Tara
Meet our sweetheart Tara! Tara is one special kitty and she certainly knows it! This little girl is a lovebug and just loves to be petted and cuddled. Check out how much she enjoys being loved in her videos!

Tara has one thing that sets her apart by from many and she doesn’t even know it! Tara was diagnosed with Wobbly Kitten Syndrome also called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). CH is caused when the part of the brain that causes motor skills was not fully developed before birth. There are several potential causes for this condition however after hearing her history, we believe that her CH was caused by malnutrition while her momma was pregnant. The family that was caring for her momma (who was a neighborhood cat) did the best they could to feed her but often times she was given people food instead of nutritious cat food that a pregnant momma needs.

This condition does not require any extra vet care besides annual check ups and does not affect her quality of life or life expectancy. She is just like every other cat in that respect. This condition causes her to wobble when she walks. Tara is litterbox trained and uses it all of the time. She is a bit messy if the litter box is too small. A larger litter box helps with this. She may struggle with stairs so ideally her furever home would have one floor or be willing to transport her to different floors at bedtime, etc. (just like you would a toddler). Tara would do best in a house with carpeting or area rugs as she will find hardwood floors a bit slippery which may make walking a bit more difficult for her.

Tara is about 10 months old, spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and FIV/FeLV negative. Her ear is tipped because originally Tara was part of our TNR program. We had no idea of her condition when her caretaker brought her to us. They knew that she was having an issue with her back legs but under sedation, no issues were found of course as CH is a motor skill issue, not a physical issue with her legs. After she was spayed, we discovered what a love she was and decided she was no longer TNR but now an Angels Adoptable. It was then we started to notice her wobbliness and had the vet reexamine her. At that time, Tara was diagnosed with CH.

We know that there is a special home out there for Tara who is ready to receive all of the love she has to give!
