Meet Helen
Welcome Helen to Lucky Dog Rescue!! Helen is a 6yr old female Miniature Pinscher with natural standing ears and docked tail. Helen is also blind from birth. Helen originally came from a group where she lived with several adults with special needs including blindness. Sadly, due to state Covid restrictions Helen found herself surrendered to a shelter very scared and all alone. Lucky Dog was contacted by the shelter because she was shut down and not doing well. We rescued her and she did amazing in her foster home. She was recently adopted however she was returned for having separation anxiety. For this reason we are saying no apartments or condos due to her barking and crying when left home alone. Separation anxiety is very common with rescue dogs, especially dogs that have been bounced around as much as Helen has. Helen loves to play with her small squeaky toys. She runs and jumps to catch and toss them to herself! The blindness doesn’t slow her down at all. Most people that meet her don’t even realize she is blind!
She does well with other dogs, well behaved kids and cats. She can be protective of her things so we suggest older kids that respect her boundaries. Helen loves to go for walks and will do well going potty outside if continuously taken out. She will also use potty pads and has been trained with both. Helen’s adoption fee includes all updated vaccinations, microchip with lifetime registration to the rescue, 4dx test ( heartworm and 3 tick borne illnesses), heartworm/flea/tick prevention, health certificate, dental cleaning and spay.
