Meet Skittles - SPECIAL NEEDS

At three months old (DOB late May 2021), this little kitty is one extraordinary girl! She is a true survivor and will need a special home to meet her needs. Skittles has severe Cerebellar Hypoplasia, sometimes called wobbly kitten syndrome. Because her mother was very underweight and sick when she was in the womb, Skittles was born with an underdeveloped cerebellum. This means she does not have the ability to balance herself and walk like other kittens. She also has a tremor in her head, which means sometimes it shakes. Despite her challenges, Skittles is an amazing kitten. She uses her litter box, eats wet and dry food, plays with her siblings, and gets around on her own. Because she does not walk with her back legs, she uses her claws to move along the carpeting or her back legs to spring her body forward. She needs a home with cat experience, with no small children, without a lot of steps, with carpeting, and the ability to baby proof areas if the home for her. She would LOVE to be adopted with one of her sisters and would probably be fine with other cats. Dogs would likely not do well with Skittles, as they might see her as prey. CH cats are more prone to injuries from hitting their heads on hard surfaces like floors and furniture.

She does not need special medicine or anything like that, and gets where she wants to very well. She loves to wrestle with her siblings and sit in your lap and purr. To keep her hydrated, her foster mama gives her a syringe of water several times a day and sometimes adds water to her wet food. CH is permanent, but as she gets bigger, Skittles will continue to adapt her body to her environment and get stronger. She will never walk like other cats or stand on her own.

After surviving multiple critical illnesses in her young life, and surprising her vet by surviving, Skittles is thriving and very clever. She LOVES people and is very spunky. She has a silly, outgoing personality. If you think you have a home fit for this special girl, apply today.
