Darla Cattle Dog Mix
Boulder, CO

1.5 year old spayed female tri-color

Characteristics
Darla is very loving! She is an absolute snuggler and gives ample kisses. She rearranges her blankets "just so," until they are up to her standard for sleeping. She loves all other dogs and cats. She is terrified of small children- likely because we don't have any in our household so they are unfamiliar to her. She barks initially at new people but warms up easily. Her love can be bought with treats.

Coat length:
Short

House-trained:
Fecal and urinary incontinent. She is managed with diapers

Health
Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered, special needs. Darla was attacked by a larger dog at approx 5-6 weeks of age and then hit by a car shortly afterwards on Navajo Nation. She had extensive damage to her vertebrae at L2 causing enough subsequent damage to her spinal cord that she does not have any superficial pain past L2. She has some uncoordinated movements in her back limbs. She has had extensive physical therapy at home- both of her foster parents are veterinarians- and with physical therapists. Right now, she is getting underwater treadmill therapy 1-2 times a week and range of motion exercises at home. Some level of physical therapy should be continued for her for the rest of her life. She is also on joint supplementation. She has her own customized wheelchair and would go home with that.

Good in a home with
Other cats, dogs, older children
