If you are interested in any of the dogs available at New Leash Rescue, you can reach out to the foster listed below for more information and then complete an adoption application which can be found at https://www.newleashrescue.org/adopt/policy. Please email the completed application to newleashrescue2018@gmail.com

Nakita came to us at the end of August from a reservation where she was likely hit by a car. She was 5 pounds at the time and had a broken pelvis, and no control over going the bathroom. Multiple emergency hospitals gave her a poor prognosis or said that they would not do any surgery on her unless she regained her continence and recommended euthanizing her. Nakita is a happy, bubbly little girl, and there was absolutely no need to let her go.

Nakita moves around fantastic on all four legs. She runs, she jumps, she plays just like any other dog. She is about 15 pounds as of 5 months old. She is full of personality and that personality shines and makes everyone she meets fall in love with her, not to mention she is adorable.

Nakita is special needs - she is urinary incontinent and needs a family who doesn't mind some extra clean up, and doesn't mind using diapers for her. This will be for the rest of her life. Nakita regained most of her control over going #2, so that part is great. Nakita might be special needs, but she is one of the most resilient and amazing dogs you'll meet.

If you are interested in Nakita, fill out the application at the link at the top of this bio. Vet references will be checked on any current/past pets, looking for regular visits, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and preventatives.

Nakita is spayed & started on preventatives, vaccinated for DHPP, rabies, and bordatella, as well as microchipped, dewormed, and fecal tested.

Adoption fee is $350 + tax (no checks)

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home.

Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home and truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption, discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.
