Sally / Female / 5 years / 15 lbs / Sapsali mix / from Korea

Meet Sally! A resilient pup, she’s been through so much and is looking for a special family to call her own. In October 2021, just one day before she was set to fly to Canada, Sally accidentally fell 4 stories and broke her spine. After months of rehabilitation and physio, she’s made great progress and can now navigate the world in her wheelchair (cart) like a pro. While her recovery is ongoing, and we do not know what her full potential looks like, we do know that this little lady has not let her injuries, or her rehabilitation slow her down or stop her from enjoying life. Sally is deserving of the best, and that’s what we’re determined to find her!

Sally is described by her foster as loving, curious, gentle and easygoing. Social with both people and dogs, Sally loves attention and snuggles. Sally would do well with savvy children old enough to understand dog etiquette. When called (especially with treats), she runs across the room on her two front paws to get pets. Belly rubs are her fav and she will nudge you for more if she’s not yet had enough! Sally is happiest when with her humans but would love to have a canine sibling too. No cats please – she likes to chase.

Sally’s zest for life in contagious. She loves to go for leisurely walks in her cart and would appreciate a family that will allow her the time to take in all the new and exciting smells. She currently enjoys one 30-60 min walk each day but would also be happy with shorter more frequent walks. Sally does well on leash for the most part but can be a bit stubborn if she does not want to walk in a particular direction. With a bit of gentle encouragement though, she will keep going.

Sally is afraid of loud noises and would do best in a quieter neighbourhood outside of the downtown core. A fenced yard is ideal, but not required so long as she gets the exercise and mental stimulation she needs. If her new home has stairs, they must be carefully gated off to avoid any accidents. Carpet is the easiest indoor surface for Sally to get around on. Hardwood or tile floors can be a bit too slippery for her and so a home with at least some carpentered areas would be ideal.

Sally is trusted with free reign of a puppy-proofed space while her foster mom is at work during the day. She will require support from her family to express her bladder 4 times a day (a simple process once you get the hang of it) to prevent urinary tract infections. For this reason, her new family should be home often and/or have a flexible schedule. Sally's ideal potty schedule is first thing in the morning, early afternoon, late afternoon/early evening and before bed. She doesn't have accidents unless she is left alone for more than 7-8 hours a day without being expressed.

Sally will require a very special family that is willing to learn how to care for her and has the time to dedicate to her ongoing rehab. This includes:

- 15 mins daily physio exercises to prevent muscle atrophy
- Potty assistance
- Monitored water and protein intake (to keep her bladder and muscles healthy)
- Several walks a day
- Continued Hydrotherapy would be beneficial
