Meet Sam
Meet Sam! He’s a very sweet and mellow boy. Sam is a cuddly pup who adores ears scritches and napping. He is a very low energy pup who spends a good chunk of his day snoozing away. Sam loves meeting new people and will press up against them, hoping for some pets and scratches. He is working on learning how to politely greet other pups on the street. He shows interested in them but is sometimes frustrated by his leash which sometimes results in barking or growling when he sees other dogs on the streets.

Sam is partially paralyzed after being hit by a car. He uses a wheelchair to get around. Sam has partial control of his bladder and bowels but he does need to be expressed to ensure his bladder fully empties and he also wears a diaper overnight to prevent indoor accidents. Sam does well with leash walking and enjoys long walks. He has no issue going up curbs or hills. Sam has been exhibiting signs of reactivity towards dogs on walks so will need some support in correcting this behaviour. Sam is doing well in his crate but will whine occasionally before settling.

The ideal home for Sam would be with a patient, loving family committed to supporting him with his limited mobility. He can not walk up stairs so his ideal home would be with limited stairs or with a family who would be willing to carry him up stairs when needed. Sam would prefer a dog free home where he can be the centre of attention. He hasn’t had much exposure to cats but has barked at a few outdoor kitties. Sam would do well in a home with older, dog savvy children that can respect his boundaries.
