Meet Elodie **Special Needs**

Meet Elodie! Sweet Elodie has Canine CH, cerebellar hypoplasia. This is an underdeveloped cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls fine motor movements. Elodie has a very mild case that mostly affects her head movements. She can walk and run, but she does prefer to be in spaces that she knows and is comfortable with. Elodie is a beautiful chihuahua, only about a year old and 9.5 pounds! She doesn’t walk well on a leash in unknown areas, but with practice and a known route, we think she would do well. Elodie does use potty pads, although she has been known to miss them. She is crate trained and does let you know when she needs to go out if you are watching! We think she’ll do well with kids and seems fine with the resident cat. She may do better with another dog around, but we have noticed that alpha-type dogs will tend to attack her because of her specific behavior. She loves her current foster puppy friends and plays very well with them! Elodie did have bloodwork at her vet visit!

Interested in becoming a forever home for Elodie? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application.

Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws .

We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Elodie.
We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Elodie the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us.
For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process.

Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses.

All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed.

Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
