Meet Choco (Deaf Frenchie)
Choco is a 1.5-year-old, deaf French Bulldog with gorgeous tan merle markings. He is a strong, muscular dog with a big grin!

Choco's former owners purchased him from a breeder when he was a puppy. A year later, they surrendered him to The Fuzzy Pet Foundation due to financial difficulties. They were sad but felt Choco deserved a more stable home environment.

French Bulldogs are at greater risk for deafness than other breeds. Like a typical deaf dog, Choco sleeps like a stone and takes an extra minute to wake up. We have taught him basic hand signals, and he looks at our hands and eyes to see what we are suggesting. He has a high-pitched bark because he cannot hear himself but is relatively quiet inside the house.

Choco becomes quickly attached to his caregivers and follows them everywhere they go. He depends on them for comfort and protection. He does not like to be left out, but he is not excessively needy or anxious. He enjoys napping on a comfortable couch or dog bed when he is not eating or exploring.

Choco has a headstrong temperament, especially when he is outdoors. He likes to pull on his leash and chase cars. He barks out of excitement but will stop when we gently tap him with our fingers to get his attention. Overall, he is a good boy who loves to please others.

We want to place Choco with an adopter familiar with French Bulldogs or deaf dogs. He gets along with cats and has been around other well-mannered dogs in his former home. Despite his hearing impairment, Choco is resilient and deserves the best life. Choco has a clean bill of health. He is neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccines and labwork. He weighs 38.36 pounds.
