Meet Olive
Special needs Olive is looking for a very special adopter. Olive will require extra care for the rest of her life. As a tiny kitten, Olive sustained an unknown injury that caused paralysis in her back legs. This has not stopped Olive from living her best life! She gets where she wants to go by pulling herself around with her front legs. Olive has also figured out how to get on top of the Roomba to take a ride. And her foster family is in the process of perfecting a cart for her to use.
Olive’s adopter will need to be very dedicated and willing to help her go to the bathroom. The injury she received to her spine has made it very unlikely that she will be able to urinate on her own. Her foster mom is currently expressing her bladder 3-4 times a day. This is very simple to learn how to do and is a necessity for her to stay healthy. As for #2, Olive is able to go on her own but she may not make it to the litter box in time. Much like urination, Olive’s needs are manageable as she is accustomed to a routine where her bowel movements are predictable by stimulation.
Olive also receives physical therapy twice a day to keep her joints loose.
Even with all of the obstacles, Olive is a happy kitten that is full of life. She loves to play, cuddle with the other cats and dogs and is a huge fan of treats especially canned food. Olive enjoys laying on the couch beside her foster family. She will come up to the couch and look up with those irresistible eyes, asking to be picked up. We are currently working with her to be able to use a ramp.
Olive lives with her BFF Tiki (another special needs foster available for adoption) and loves to play and cuddle up next to her. Olive does well with other cats and is in a foster home with calm, senior, cat-friendly dogs. Olive does well around children but we are looking for a home without small children for her safety. A home without stairs or able to restrict access to stairways when not supervised is required. Olive would enjoy a home with windows low to the ground (or a sliding door) so she can enjoy the view without climbing.
Olive is spayed, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, treated for fleas, FIV/FeLV negative, and microchipped. Olive is estimated to be around 7 months old (~DOB 7/15/22). Her adoption fee is $55.
