Meet SCOOTER - SWEET FLUFFY KITTEN
Scooter was rescued from a local kill shelter where he had been returned for a second time and he's only six months old. He originally came in as a kitten, most likely hit by a car, and had to have his right rear leg amputated. He was adopted by an Operation Kindness worker and lived there for several months; however, this person's mother told them they had to return him (no reason given) and so back he came to the same shelter he had originally been brought to. A shelter volunteer reached out to FFAR and asked if they had room for him because he was so sweet and cute and adorable and also, special needs. You see, Scooter isn't just a tripod. He has basically no use of his remaining left rear leg, too. That's why he's called Scooter - he uses his front legs and scoots around. His foster mom's primary concern when she realized how his remaining leg was basically dysfunctional, too, was whether he could use a litterbox. Happily, he has enough use of it that he can climb up into the box, dig a hole, and raise his butt up a couple inches so that he can do his business without mess. He then digs to bury it and out he goes. He has not had one single accident in his foster home and the shelter said he used the box in his cage without incident, too, so this was the biggest hurdle as to whether he was adoptable. Even more impressive, he uses his front legs to scratch a cat scratcher and climb up on beds a few feet off the ground. He loves to scoot around with a turbotracker and chase balls and except for his mobility issues, he's a normal beautiful little kitten. His fur is super soft and silky and he is as sweet and social as he can be. He immediately acclimated to the other cats and absolutely loves attention. Scooter needs a home that is cat saavy and will be okay with his scooting around. It does take some getting used to, but he's who he is and it doesn't bother him in the least. He's been this way since he was a tiny kitten and doesn't know any different. If interested in meeting and possibly adding this special kitty to your forever home, please go to furryfriendsanimalrescue.org and submit an application. You will be contacted within 24 hours (if not, please check your spam folder).
