Meet Betty #640
Betty is a female poodle mix who weighs 5 lbs, and is approximately 4 yrs old. Betty is a sweet, tiny girl, who is very nervous when meeting new people. She was fear aggressive when she came into the shelter, but now lets staff cuddle with her, and enjoys attention. Betty was in rough shape when she was brought in. Her hair was matted, lots of fleas, and she is partially paralyzed in her back legs. After getting x-rays the veterinarian believes that she has a problem with one or two discs in her mid back, but is not in pain. The doctor recommended a referal for surgery, or that she could benifit from using a wheelchair. She can move her back legs and tail, but is unable to support any weight, and walks by balancing on her front legs. Betty also has the ability to control when she goes potty. Betty will need patience, and someone who is able to give her the extra medical care that she needs. Other dogs frighten her, a slow introduction will be necessary, or she may do best as an only pet.
