Meet Hot Rod
Hot Rod – 8 year old, 7lb chihuahua. Hot Rod is a great little guy who only wants love. When we got him, he was not using his back legs. Due to an infection that just would not heal and knowing that that leg caused him pain, he recently had both back legs amputated - his other leg was completely detatched from his body. He is doing and feeling soooo much better. Hot Rod gets around like a champ in his scoot suit. He wears a diaper with suspenders to help keep them on, and they don't bother him at all. He has special wheels that we call his Hot Wheels that we are currently fitting him with. We are not sure he needs or will want to use the wheels because he is so fast without them. His front legs are getting stronger and he is mastering lifting his backend up when eating. Not sure why he does it when eating, but he also lifts his back end a bit when he is zooming around. We have to make sure he doesn't zoom down a concrete sidewalk without his scoot suit on - that will tear up his skin. We are looking for a foster or forever family for Hot Rod. Foster to adopt is a good way to get to learn about Hot Rod.
