You know I was so horrified when I first read this story. That POOR DUCK! I wonder how much they 'realize'? Does anyone know? I know birds, grosbeaks in particular are stunningly intelligent or clever, as well as crows & etc. How 'bout ducks?

Ducks mate for life. When one half of a mated pair dies or is taken away, the other duck never mates again. I wonder where its mate is.

What a brave little duck! I'd like to take the hunter's gun and shoot him in the leg and arm, stick him in a refrigerator for two days without food and water, and see how he fares...

The duck we had, Splash, was QUITE smart, despite that he was a Peking. I'd think wild ones would be even smarter.
