hi again. just came from the vet... troy was fine, socialized with other dogs.. didn't really bark or stress himself much. he was fine in the car as well, y girl stayed at the back with him to make sure everything s ok while I drive...

basically everything was good in the check up
his liver is fine again, after 3 months treatment.
his teeth are looking better, probably thanks to the chewy treats he s been getting, they are not so hard for him to take, but help clean up the black stuff, one of his canines is totally clean. not sure if you remember the photos I d posted.. vet told me there s nothing really worth worrying about.
lumps on his chest are just fat..
his testicles are fine, and I was worried he had a tumor.
he can keep taking the neurorubine for now, they are mainly vitamins, and is ok to keep him on them.

he still gets fliexible joints and daily conditioner supplements...

his ears, which needed operating upon, before his back got bad, are apparently fine as well. he had growths in there, but we ve been medicating them at first daily, then twice weekly, since beginning November. there is no longer need to surgically remove the growths, which had previously been blocking his ear canal.

this was a second opinion, from my actual vet, who happened to be abroad last time I got someone to check over troy. both vets said he s ok ;)

Sounds GREAT!! If, by chance, he ends up needing something done about his ears, check around about the possibility of lasering the growths. Both my Ace and my Lefty were sent away for total ear canal ablations (TECA). I decided to check with a specialist first, and she essentially lasered Ace a new ear canal through the scar tissue. NO TECAs for either one, any of the 3 involved ears! I was thrilled!!

not sure about the availablilty of laser here in malta, but luckily they seem to be improving. however It s worth for me to look into that, just in case.. so thanks for bringing it up.

Wow! He's lifting his leg on every tree he sees, like it's nothing! Who knew something we take for granted like a dog marking a tree could be SO precious!!! He's doing GREAT!!!!!

thanks carol, sometimes he freaks me out , jumps etc... and doesnt see to mind at all. however I m stil trying not to push my luck. we let him have a few days rest after taking him somewhere nice, or for a longer walk in the nature etc... still lifting hi up the stairs every night. once he got us distracted and went up and down again by himself, unhindered, and he didn't seem to mind or be in pain at all. he actually gave us an ugly teeth grin as if to say 'yes, I know I tricked you', knowing that he s not allowed there alone... but at the same time, I think it s wiser to be careful, whilst trying to find a balance into letting him enjoy the good things in life.

few months ago, I would have been grateful if he would have been fit enough to use a dog cart without hurting his neck, so this is more than I ever expected.
once again thank you so much for all the help that you gave ;)

an update, more than a year later.. troy s doing great, no signs of injury. still carrying him up and down the stairs, as a precaution... but every so often he distracts me and darts, or jumps on the bed, back down.. and nothing is more natural and unhindered, that i know i m being over precautious. we do not use ramps in the house, as we got to a point where he would just go from the side, and jump whatever i put to make the steps more gradual. he often goes on long walks, runs, and has no problems or shows no signs of anything worrying at all. I would not notice he had problems in the past, to see him today.

once again wished to thank all for the help, as I believe a major contribution to his recovery came from here. if and when I find time, I ll try post a video or two. ;)

This is the best news! What a treasure it is to just be enjoying a normal life. Troy will probably never know how lucky he is. I'm so glad he's just being a normal dog! :D Would love to see videos if you get a chance to upload any. It's so good to read this update. This story is definitely an example for others in this situation.

Wow! If you asked someone who did not know, they would not be able to tell which dog ever had a problem. He is doing FANTASTIC!!! And he's finally getting to have that enjoyable life he never really had, the life you wanted for him. That is wonderful. It's amazing. Thanks for the videos. :trophy:
