5 month old's future

Blind and deaf pets can live happy, healthy, quality lives. In fact, sometimes it's hard to tell them from sighted pets. They do, though, have their own special needs.

5 month old's future

Post by servicedogroo »

Max is 5 months old now...he was born very juicy. took a lot to suction him. His nose is tiletedto the right when you look at him. he has seventh nerve paralisis in the left side of the face when you look at him. He has nutritional cataracts found at 6 weeks old and has some tone deafness. anything we should know to raise him. we have thus far found to call him we have to clap. He is quick on his feet and has yet to run into anything so we are holding steady for now with vision.

I cannot recommend highly enough Christy's deafblind primer 101. It applies to all deafblinds, not just aussies.

I wouldn't let mine to stairs. I carried him. Then when I fenced in the front yard for the little ones (I had two deafblinds at the time) I would open the door to th stairs, and even the severely CCD (OCD) pup could sail up and down the stairs. If you go to our new website, you will see a LOT of tips under the Health Care and Training forum:

You can train these pups by touch, and their abilities will amaze you. I think I posted some Amazing Aussie videos here somewhere, they are the grandmas of LW rescue. These pups dazzle us every day. We have a group of more than 200 who share in the delight o fthe deafblind.
