Deaf Aussie in Beaufort County Shelter

Blind and deaf pets can live happy, healthy, quality lives. In fact, sometimes it's hard to tell them from sighted pets. They do, though, have their own special needs.

Deaf Aussie in Beaufort County Shelter

Post by GabrielDeafBlindPupFamily »

I met Shakespeare today. He is in the unadoptable section. His owner is in the hospital, and deputies are hoping for an owner relinquish. I have pre-posted him on LWAR-C and have offered to the deputy to foster and take him under LWAR-C.
Deaf dogs are a walk in the park. He is beautiful, with one blue eye, one amber, and a beautiful red merle coat. He appears more 'pattern white' but his deafness is not caused by white hairs, as he has colored hairs in his ears. So.
Don't know.
Anyway, stay tuned folks, you never know how this will go.
I am hoping for an owner relinquish and quickly.

Can you visit the hospital--is the owner able to talk? You never know when somebody's kids or next of kin will take charge and make a bad decision.

No, she makes frequent trips and is often in police custody as well. Unreliable for animal care, so it may have to go before a judge which could be catastrophic.
HOPE for relinquish!

critters, when my own dog was stolen and recovered a year later crawling with disease, including h/w, the shelter director (who has since 'retired' and that simple fact will save many lives) said I may not have him, nor would she hand him over to a vet! The deputies said they would sneak me in to bathe him!
The director then said that I may not get him back at all! Depends on what the judge said! So! I testified against an armed crackhead on behalf of all the dogs the deputies valiantly rescued (most were put down afterward because of disease) and the judge gave the perp orders to pay my veterinary bills. They were never paid. I asked the deputies to have the judge put my vet bills against her fines to make sure they were paid. STILL never paid, nothing ever done. The judge ordered her to pay $1,000 per dog up to the max of 3 dogs. Never paid. The law down here is a bad joke. These deputies risk their lives on behalf of the critters (sorry critters) to end up in a court jester's room!
Shakespeare's well-being is totally up in the air.
