RB lives at a friend's house and mom gives him hospice care several times a week....

"Red Beans is still alive.

when I took Red Beans to the vet, he was perkier than expected. She suggested that, although he was seriously uremic, there was a possibility that he could pull back to his previous plateau in a couple of days if we tried a different antibiotic. She said that Roxie had been in worse shape than that and bounced back, so it was worth at leawst one try. And I agreed. RB has gotten more SQ fluids + a slow-release week-long shot of cephalosporin (sp.?) antibiotic. Also 1/4 mirtazapine (appetite stimulant) + they gave me some potassium supplement to give him tonight.

I don't know whether RB will survive, but will give it one more try.
I will probably call Ken tonight and tell him that he needs to come down & visit pronto if he wants to see Red Beans. If I can get RB through this crisis and give him a few more weeks it will be worth it."
