I have no words, just tears in my eyes right now.
she was so pretty!
I know it's a hard to think of the last moments I try very hard to get them out of my head when they pop in.
it's all so fresh for you, I am so sorry, it sooooo hard!

Oh Tessa,Liz.
My heart is shattered for you. For me; I loved her too, because she gave me hope when I thought there was none. She represents everything I want for my Jaida; I want to see her beautifully grey-muzzled and still gamely hopping along, just like your beautiful warrior princess. I have no words that are adequate right now. Just know that, on the other side of the ocean, tears are falling and and another beloved tripod is getting an extra hug tonight. I wish I was there to give you a hug too. Tears.

Tessa, a friend posted the following on FB, as so many of us have lost the loves of our lives, and grieving is universal. I post this for your contemplation and introspection, not to make you cry, but to share with you, we understand how special Xena is to your very being. And she signed it, To My Lexie, my "Heart Dog", I loved you best:

Poem for those who have lost their "Heart Dogs"Share
Today at 5:58pm
Thank you Virginia for writing about Tom. I would have never read this poem. It is so true.

So this is where we part, my friend,
And you'll run on, around the bend,
Gone from sight, but not from mind,
New pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on. I'll find the strength.
Life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
Share one last look, before I grieve.

There were others, that much is true,
But they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
Will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
The fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
Take this with you....I loved you best.

thanks everyone.
and for the poem, karen.
it's true. i loved her best.

it's still terrible and raw...and i am in agony.
in agony even tho i spent the weeks before her death crying. agony even tho i knew for the past three years that this time was coming.

strangely...people i haven't seen in a very long time have strolled through my workplace, and asked after her.
people who have a distant but significant connection to her.
it all seems so planned, somehow. so scripted.
it makes me feel assured that everything is as it should be...as painful as that is.

Hi Tessa,

I am so sorry for your loss. Xena gave me the courage to give Mr. Bo the extra time he/we needed to say good-bye. I have been monitoring this board ever since and I was always happy to see posts about Xena. I am a professional pet sitter and a few times I have met people who needed advice about amputation. I always referred them here and told them to especially read Xena's story. She is an inspiration to anyone wondering what to do next. Thank you Tessa and thank you Xena.

thanks barbara.
the only credit i can take is that i stood by her.
she did the rest. she did it all, went through it all, suffered it all...and came screaming out of the other side of it, victorious.
she was amazing.
i will never know another like her.
it would be impossible.

i feel so empty right now.

There will NEVER be another Xena, Tessa, but there WILL be more love. Your love for Xena is too huge not to have an outlet. Xena will direct you. What you think is either an amazing coincidence, or a calling you cannot describe, BELIEVE. Tessa, your Xena knows your love, and she will direct you. Xena's Legacy.
My little Albin is Possum's Ghost.
When the pain is too great, the hole is too huge, FILL IT. Your pain is your testamen to your love for this precious life. You honor her life with your tears. She so deserves it. But it isn't what she wants for you. She hates that you are grieving so. She only wants laughter and love in your life.
Xena's Legacy.

I understand very well.
your daily routine with her is gone, the talking to her, it takes time.
you can express yourself here as much as you like to, we all understand and have the same feelings.
all these precious pets brought us together here, isn't that something?

I cradled that box all the way home from the vet. Bailey in her tent is on my computer at work and her pictures and her angels are on my desk. (Remember the miniature angel I picked up in a thrift shop a few days after with the name "Bailey" on her dress?)

Holding you close in my heart today as it brings it all back to the surface again. Our girls are smiling down on us right now wanting us to remember all the good things.

I was terrified to drop the box when I picked it up.
I also have Mickey as a desktop pictures and photo's and art that were made with this image everywhere in my house.
I still have his ashes in the house.
