My Samhain poem for this year

[Bendy Kitty]

i luks at the stars, i luks at the moon
the time is coming when
i'll be able to say hello soon
to all the ones
who have gone away
and we still miss every day

mom's good friend Mike
and the wildcats they knew
and we'll say hello to Barbara who taught
mom what to do

my momma NingaCat
and my sister Socks, too

my many half sibs
gone before they opened their eyes
and all the older cats
all those who have died

the kittens who didn't make it
like Sammi and Lucky Charm
and so many others mom held in her arms.
Fuzzybutt, Camaro, so many without names.

And our senior friends
like Gabriel, Dixie, Tiger, Mattie, Samuel, Fluffy, Shadow, RedBeans, Bernard, Sly and Lonely
cats dumped by the way
have brightened our days

and we look forward to the time
at the end of this month
when the veil is thin
and we can send hellos across

we will watch for signs
that our visitors have been here
little rrowls from sweet 'Gumie
we might just hear
Little Sammi kitten stumbling
with his funny walk
his cute lil voice when he tried to talk
Is he playing with Beep, another wobbly baby?
they bobble together so cute and shaky.

other cats we've known
even if only across the wires
dear Twinkle, i miss you
but love doesn't expire


we'll light a fire and stare into its blaze
and send our hellos with the smoke
as is our way.

Oh, Bendy, my heart bends in half. This is so beautiful. So brilliantly beautiful. And they were so lucky to be in your lives. They were so impossibly lucky to have found you. To know love, comfort, love, care, love, shelter, love, food, and LOVE most of all. This is just beautiful.
