our neighbor's dog died today in a house fire

very very sad
mom was going to run errands and saw tons of smoke, went runnign over. the fire department had just arrived.
the poor dog was sleeping on the bed, never even got up.
our neighbor had been working in her yard. her daughter got home from work to find the house burnt and her dog dead.
the house was not totally destroyed, thankfully, and no humans were hurt but everyone is very upset about Buddy.

rest in peace little guy. i hope you never did wake up and just died in your sleep without being afraid of what was happening around you.

That is just awful, poor baby. That has to be one of my biggest fears living in an apartment. Rest in peace Buddy.

I think he would have barked if he woke up. Could it have been the furnace? Could he have had carbon monoxide before the fire started? I'm sorry for you as his friend, and seeing the grief of his family.

awwwwwwwwwww how sad, I hope it was too quick for the dog to realise.
There are stickers for sale that can be put on the front door to let firemen know that there are pets in the house.

This is beyond tragic! I was listening to the news on my drive home tonight and two dogs in Savannah died in a house fire. They were crated on the third floor. The report said not just the smoke, but the flames were too bad to get to them. My heart reels.
I am so very sorry. This hurts on so many levels.

This is so heartbreaking and so difficult to read about. I feel for you and your neighbors. Feelings of helplessness, sadness, and always the question "why?"

I have to believe that God steps in during tragedies like these and takes his little bears away before they experience any fear or pain.
