We lost our Sadie tonight, 7/1/1995 - 10/7/2010

Post by Paul Coover »

It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that we lost our Sadie tonight. She, along with Spartacus, we adopted from the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in June 2007. They have been a wonderful pair, and Spartacus still is, but Sadie over the past several days has been showing her age and she has passed on quickly and quietly.

She was such a unique dog that I can not hardly describe her. She was a loner, only really getting close to Spartacus and sometimes Riley. She never wanted much attention and she never came into our bed, but she had a quiet way about her that was very soothing and relaxing. her final days were spent outside in the warm sunshine and she was allowed to run free and smell the grass and the air. Perhaps the sadest and most memorable moment at the end came when James came into the room where Floofy (as we called her) was laying and he saw her and said "Fluff! bye Fluff". That will be a moment I will never forget.

We are honored to be the ones to have kept

her in her final years of life and we will miss our little "Fluffy" girl.

This is the original post from back in June 2007:

Introducing the newest members of the Weinerdog household, Sadie and Spartacus:

Sadie is a 12 year old long haired and EXTREMELY OVERWEIGHT dachshund. Her companion is Spartacus, a 9 year old smooth haired dachshund. Spartacus is very scared and freaked out, so he has not left his crate much yet.

They are both from the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta, Maine. This is the same place that Auggie is from. Their owner passed away and they ended up in the pound. They are absolutely inseparable!

How could I say no? I just can't! Is there a doxaholics anonymous?

Hello, my name is Paul, and I am a doxaholic...

Awwww....Paul, what a beautiful tribute to Sadie. She sounds wonderful and I know that her time with your family was filled with love, snuggles and security. I am sorry for another loss and in awe of yet another person on this board who puts it all out there to rescue.
