need help in finding a doggie wheelchair

Post by radarkusje »

I work in a hospital in the housekeeping department. One of the

patient's that I have been cleaning for told me about his three

year old dog that has no use of it's back legs. Apparently the

dog befriended him a couple of years ago and was fine, but he

believes that someone hit the dog and now Blackie is paralized in

the back legs. The man, Jessie, is a sweet older gentleman

probably in his 80's. He won't put the dog down (I'm happy about

that) he says its the sweetest dog he's ever had. Blackie follows

him out to the mailbox everyday he says. Although it takes him

over 20 minutes to get there Jessie just stops and waits for the

dog to catch up. I am a dog lover myself with many rescued dogs

and it breaks my heart to hear Blackie trying so hard. I would

like to know if anyone knows of anyone or has a wheelchair

available. I want to do something for this sweet man and his dog.

I live about 45 min away from him and havn't been able to get

down there yet, I just heard the story from him yesterday and he

will be in the hospital then rehab for the next couple of weeks.

His wife is currently at home with the animals. I don't have much

money and I researched them online but they start at about $350.

I can't afford that kind of money but I could pay something. His

wife pushes Blackie around in a wheelbarrel but Jessie said that

Blackie likes to be independent and will crawl outside to lay in

the sun. It just breaks my heart and these fine people have no

money but love animals. (they also have chickens and goats and

cats) Thanks so much. I plan to visit them and take video of

blackie. I hope that someone can help me find a chair for

Blackie. thanks again

:whale: How nice of you to help them!! Could somebody make them a cart? Maybe a high school "shop" class or welding company might donate services? If the pupper is small, a PVC cart is easy, and cheap, to make, and Dogs to Go makes PVC carts far cheaper than anybody else. Here are some homemade ideas. http://www.handicappedpets.com/HomemadeCarts.htm You're an  .

What kind of dog is it? Can you give me an idea of its size?
